In other news, it’s official. I start my new job on Wednesday. 🙂 What’s funny is that my new office is about three miles away from Jack’s apartment.
Congrats, man!! And you can always seek shelter at my place after work if there’s a snowstorm.
Yay! Happy dance! Congratulations, I hope it is everything you want and need in a place of employment.
*lifts virtual glass*
Here’s to a long run, with plenty of raises and full healthcare coverage!
Thanks, so far as I can tell, this office seems to be filled with a lot less drama compared to the other Phoenix firms I worked for. Time will tell. LOL
Congrats, man! I’m happy for you. 🙂
Woot!

Fuck plus yes!
Currently at the gym watching my daughter in her trampoline and tumbling class. Afterwards I’m going to Imperial Outpost Games to watch Xwings battle.

Another good Doctor Who episode this week.
Edwin A Abbott would have been proud.

My NaNoWriMo group is doing a pass-around, round-robin story-writing activity tonight. (You write a paragraph on paper, then pass your paper to the next person, who writes the next paragraph. Passing and writing continues in a circle until you get the story you started back.) One of the stories that got passed to me turned out to be an alien-abduction story. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to turn it into Slaughterhouse-Five fanfiction for my segment. (The aliens turn out to be Tralfamadorians. )
So it goes.
😉 Nobody died in the round-robin story. The person who got it after me was not familiar enough with Slaughterhouse-Five to pick up on the references, so she saw “plunger-shaped aliens” and decided that the abductee had been abducted for her supernatural cleaning abilities. My friends are awesome.
Head cold is making me feel full of ugh.
Oh and listening to an album recorded in 1971 via Spotify, the future is here showing me the past…
I was looking for something and ran into this website. It may be old news for some of you, but some of the stuff I was looking for that isn’t in my local liquor superstore was found here.
Our local radio station played “Pepper” by Butthole Surfers today. <3
I don’t mind the sun sometimes, the images it shows.

Fucking Apple updating iTunes again. Now I need to figure out how to reset a bunch of the crap that they changed. Again.
Thank You, Jonas Hiller for putting in the performance we needed today.
Go AZ Derby Dames!
Its week one….
and that’s 1 week our team has won.
Huh…
And it was super-tense for a week 1.
We went to the movies and saw Fury this afternoon. Good for a matinee flick. I think Brad Pitt was channeling some George Clooney in this movie.
I would have liked more “boom” in a tank movie.
Yoooou’d like more gore and guys run over and POW’s murdered? It’s about the crew, not the tank.
Ronsons!
Yeah, it was ok. The crew stuff was really not all that interesting. I’ll remember the scenes of the tracer fire more than anything else.

Just booked another flight to Dallas! I’m going 10/28-30 and 11/10-12. Weeee!
Til Kingdom Come / the work is done / on earth as it is in Dallas.
I’ll be in Dallas from 11/5-19 (if current plans hold). What’s more, I’ll be working at the Dallas – Fort Worth Airport. We should get a cup of coffee (or a beer) when you’re passing through.
Sounds good! I will be flying into/out of DFW (gate E21 every time). If you’re around 11/12 later in the day, I’m sure we can make that happen! My flight is around 7:30 p.m., and I could get there a bit early to hit the E Terminal TGI Fridays . . .
my email is olyejark at gmail dot com.
Your crap joke for the day:
A truck carrying electrical goods has shed its load in downtown Denver, Police say the road will be closed for about 5 minutes..
To those Panites who follow Nascar, is there some event happening near the Calgary area? I don’t want to go, it just while I was waiting at the airport a whole bunch of drivers came out of the US receiving area. The only name I was able to catch was Kyle Busch. And then, I had to look up the name to find out he was Nascar. Google is telling me nothing for a change so I was just wondering.
I don’t know of anything going on there.
Might be some private, fundraising or corporate event.
Van, I looked at the I0S emulater you gave me on the previous post. Unfortunately my tiny, old net book doesn’t meet the system requirements. I’m having lunch with the boss, we’ll discuss our options then
it wasn’t a IOS emulator, just a hacked version of OSX that had drivers supporting more hardware that Apple’s release.
I’ve seen OSX running on the original atom CPU which is about as low spec as you can get.
hmmm. I’ll look at it again tomorrow. The specs they suggested were not suitable to my machine. The big one was they wanted a standalone graphics card, not integrated graphics.
*shrug* As I said, I’ll give it a try tomorrow.
So Van, “Peaky Blinders” has been recommended. Have you seen it? Is it any good?
According to the reviews it is, but I missed the first series so haven’t bothered with S2.
That is quite a loss. Van, I know how much you love that song.
Is there a more iconic, non-goofy saxophone riff than Baker St.?
No! But I would say that.
Interesting exercise, really. . . I can think of plenty of sax solos, but not many sax riffs – – and definitely not many good ones. Anyone? Beuller? Who Can it Be Now?
“Yakity Sax”
(cue the scantily dressed women and short bald guy)
“Tequila” is the only other thing that immediately comes to mind.
I see what you did there, Jack “The Sax” Mangan”
I started looking up saxophone riffs on Google. Either Google can’t tell the difference between a riff and a solo, or there simply isn’t anyone writing about saxophone riffs specifically. I did find this site with a horribly great picture of Bruce Springsteen (tops the list of rock musicians I avoid at all costs).

Hubbyless again tonight. This is why we are so behind in our television
today I performed an act of bravery.
There was a spider on the curtains the other day so hubby had to close them but, by then, the spider hid so he couldn’t find it. Today I opened the curtains without him.

Last night, I had a dream that I was at a Deadpan Mmmmeetup that was being held in a big two-story house that looked like the one I lived in when I was in high school, only bigger, more rustic, and more cluttered. A bumch of us were staying there, including me. Jack, Van, Lo Pan, and many others were there. It was a cool dream.
I had the same dream, except in mine, Lo was a giant talking salamander.

John Wick – epic.
It’s the kind of film that Quetin Tarantino wishes he were capable of making.
And I’ll just get this out of the way – it’s not really a story, more of an experience.
Haven’t even heard of it.
That seems to be the word. We may have to go this week.
Wow, Ed! Great to hear good comments for this flick!

OK, I’ll go first. Good news, everyone!

Gary Moore and Faith No More – – you’re speaking my language today!
Van started it. Speaking of “speaking my language,” did you see much carnage at Imperial Outpost on Saturday? Pick up any games?
We admired the little plastic ships and star maps, didn’t hover too much over the tourney.
They do have an impressive selection of games there. We managed to resist, but there were many temptations.
This was one of those temptations:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiz-War
My NJ friends and I logged many, many, many hours on the early Jolly Games editions, even creating house rules, custom cards, etc.
Nice. I ended up getting a Lambda Shuttle for my fleet.
Given the clientele at the gaming store, I’d expect it to be a Lambda Lambda Lambda class shuttle.
Indeed. I may need to start growing a neck beard.
Help me, Ogre Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.
(Three years ago, this idea might have evolved into a Deadpan skit)
Please don’t grow a neck beard. We may have to start calling you Keanu.
woah…
So this week I watched the first two episodes of the new season of Arrow.
I’m sure Brandon Routh is looking younger as he ages I wonder if he a portrait locked up in a room somewhere..
Oddly, Teresa and I started watching “Penny Dreadful” yesterday. Dorian Grey was a character.
I noticed the same, but I think they’re doing something with his stubble and using less black under his eyes.
Rhettro, I only watched the pilot but was highly interested. Are you enjoying the series so far?
The acting is great as is the character development. The pacing is slow but seems to be picking up two episodes in. I’m enjoying it so far.
CW: The Affair E2
I am looking forward to that series.
Also, about 2/3 through reading Gone Girl and really enjoying it. Looking forward to the film!
Enjoyed the first two episodes, just like the way it plays with events seen differently from the two protagonists.

Rhett,
I dug the X-Wing tourney and especially the custom Moving Templates! Those were neat.
Yes, those were neat. And the custom tokens too. I feel a strange disturbance in my wallet.
Beware of strange disturbances in your pants.

There was a spider on the curtains the other day so hubby had to close them but, by then, the spider hid so he couldn’t find it. Today I opened the curtains without him.
baby steps.
You’ve just taken your first step into a larger world.
I just finished Gone Girl – wow.
We must discuss!
Corny, but neat?!

Wouldn’t it be easier to just pass out in a cave somewhere around here?
Watch out for roving sofas.
Hmmm:

Dare I admit that I couldn’t finish that book?
So it goes.
One of my favorite Vonnegut-isms.
I *did* just finish “The City and the City” audio book. Enjoyed the Hell out of it. I’m never psyched to start China Mieville books, but he usually wins me over by the end.
Morning Pan
Hubby said he should be home early today. I’ll believe it when I see it.
Getting the run around from a company when a product you’ve brought from them has not been delivered is bloody frustrating.
.. And lesson on why you should research a company before ordering:

:-/ Sorry, Van. Keep on them!
That’s it, it’s time to move. That’s the third spider I’ve seen in the house this week.
tNT perhaps?
They just want to be friends.
Apparently Constantine starts tonight.
Isn’t that surgery available where you can remove your eyeballs and have them replaced with shiny new ones? No? Too much SF?
The phrase ‘too much SF’ does not compute.
Yeah, I love San Francisco too.
*hook appears from the right of the stage*
Wokka Wokka Wokka
That explains the hook I saw. 🙂
CW: Gotham E5
So I’m not upto speed on the Batman universe, what’s the scuttlebutt on who the medical examiner turns into?
Edward?
E.Nigma – The Riddler
The one who thought the new drug effects were interesting.
Yep that’s Edward.
Ta
Ok, this reminds me of a WW2 weapon that was initially wireless but then went wired:

Over to you Lo….
The power is out. Seriously. WTF?

Britney Spears Gets Her Own Holiday on Nov. 5! http://www.eonline.com/news/591606/britney-spears-gets-her-own-holiday-on-nov-5
A well deserved WTF!

For non FBers, tonight I discovered I like Sherbert Lemons (a type of boiled sweet).
Just saying.
Goodnight :tumbleweed:
The force is strong with the Tumbleweeds today.
CW: Fringe S1 E3
Okay, fuck you S1 naysayers, it’s great!
Apart from the metal in the blood line…tsk tsk.
Nay nay nay nay nay (I’ve never seen Fringe)
Goodbye BST and Hello GMT.
Our time change is next week. Enjoy the change!
I’ll will chime in, and then it will be a three-way…
(Oops, I posted on the old thread)
Last night, I had a dream that I was at a Deadpan Mmmmeetup that was being held in a big two-story house that looked like the one I lived in when I was in high school, only bigger, more rustic, and more cluttered. A bumch of us were staying there, including me. Jack, Van, Lo Pan, and many others were there. It was a cool dream.
I had the same dream, except in mine, Lo was a giant talking salamander.
I want some of what you’re having
As long as Im giant…
Jolly green?
Ho ho ho
Looks like we’ll be hitting another trunk or treat today.
When did these things start? Where’s the Fox News expose on the “War on Halloween”?
Bloody Americanisms..oh wait,
Since it doesn’t look like there’s been commentary on the pan yet –
John Wick – epic.
It’s the kind of film that Quetin Tarantino wishes he were capable of making.
And I’ll just get this out of the way – it’s not really a story, more of an experience.
Haven’t even heard of it.
That seems to be the word. We may have to go this week.
Wow, Ed! Great to hear good comments for this flick!
I heart Keanu.
I’m also expecting vengence for the loss of his lil’ sidekick.
Bah! 2nd January in the UK..
Operation: introduce Michael Keaton Batman to the kids: complete. Conclusions: the first was ok, but far hokier than I remembered it being. Bat man Returns is actually better than I remember.
Say, did they make any other Batman movies in the 90s?
CW Quantum Leap, S2 E5. There’s nothing wrong with the classics
Oh boy.
That’s what she said
