  1. Clarification… I was on hold at work which allowed me the brief moment of going to the website. I didn’t realize it wasn’t really a show show.. I just was like “hey look there’s a new :pan: …” but yeah.. I see/hear now that it wasn’t the case.

    Chocolate.

  2. Are you sure it isn’t the files, and the problem with iTunes is just a symptom? I use Juice 2.2 and for some reason Deadpan shows (and only Deadpan shows) ALWAYS time out at 99% so they get retried every day and I end up with a directory full of duplicate pans. iTunes’ solution to bad file may be to remove it from their copy of your feed or something.

  3. One of the daycare kids was quarantined in the kitchen with a cough. He had most of the Fisher Price Little People with him, and suddenly he didn’t.

Darcy asked where the toys went, and he pointed out a “mystery hole” in our cabinetry behind the baseboard and between cabinets pretty much just the right size for the toys but too small for hands to retrieve them.

Those toys are gone, unless we get a Sawzall and go after the cabinetry…

  4. Since we’re testing stuff, this post is a test of Opera mini on my droid

The good: I can access deadpan and comment.

The bad. Compared to other android browsers, this doesn’t feel comfy with the touch screen and other interface options.

The verdict: Use until they correct the other browsers

  5. “Life? Don’t talk to me about life!”

    ….

“Wearily on I go, pain and misery my only companions. And vast intelligence, of course. And infinite sorrow.”

  6. I am officially exhausted. There will be a nap at some point in my future today.

But first… I have to get dressed and volunteer in my daughter’s classroom.

    That’ll perk me up though.

Can we get a round of applause for my coffee?

Morning has broken, like the first morning…
What does that even mean? WTF is the first morning anyway?

1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
    – Genesis Chapter 1 Vs 1-3

  8. Yeah, didn’t download in iTunes.

So NO, did you get Opera Mini from the link I posted or did you already have it?

Ok, I maybe going nuts, but I’m sure I posted first this morning on this thread and now it’s vanished.

    wibble!

  9. N – Na Na Hey Hey? Or Never Gonna Fall in Love Again

Q – I think :jack: came up with one, but does Queen of Hearts qualify as an “oldie” yet?

X – KISS had a song called X-Ray Eyes in 1978 (I admittedly cheated on this one, but I’m a completest)

    Z – Ziggy Stardust …

I guess “oldies” are becoming less old…or something

  10. Thank you all for joining in the game. I was off volunteering at school and playing mommy taxi and grocery shopping..

Now I’m going to sit here for a bit and do nothing.

  11. Levels of computer cool that fail miserably:

I have a 19″ flat-screen monitor at work, and it has 2 USB ports built into it. I am, as I write this, charging my Sansa Sandisk MP3 player. This is totally cool; HOWEVER, the ports don’t actually integrate with the computer to allow any data transfer.

    Dell, once again you fail!

Is there not a port to connect to your USB port on the computer so those ports on the monitor can be used?

There is on my Dell 19 inch monitor.

  13. @Vanamonde

Yes, but the USB ports on the tower sit beneath the desk with the tower, while the monitor sits above on the desk. I’d need at least 6′ of cable to get them to connect. It’s not really an expense I’d like to absorb, just so that I can delete files from my MP3 player. It would make accessing my thumb drives easier though.

  14. @ditto

Ironically I lived therefor a bit…. OH YOURE JOKING!!!! Oh ditto… ditto you crazy sum butch.

CP: Pretty Girls Make Graves – Sad Girls por Vida
Probably my fav song ever at this moment. Delish.

  15. @jackmangan

off the top of my head…

    verses= Am – G
    chorus= F – G – Am, except for the “run run run away” part where it’s F – G – C
bridge: Bm – G for the French part, followed by A – G a few times

    Fun song 🙂

  16. YEAH!!!!!!! Now why cant Chinabe here, Mistah Burton?

Chinese Government Pulls Avatar from 2D Screens
by Jonathan Simrin January 20, 2010 Confucius can take the Na’vi any day of the week, apparently. China will be pulling the blockbuster Avatar, directed by James Cameron, from theaters throughout the country to make room for a state-backed biopic on the ancient philosopher. According to the Associated Press, the decision, made by state authorities, is an effort to make room for an influx of new domestic films, coinciding with the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday. And if you’re worried Cameron’s ego might even be the slightest bit hurt, you shouldn’t. Avatar will continue to show in IMAX and 3D in China. Despite the reports from state authorities, some Chinese commentators are speculating that the film and its politics are striking a chord with government officials, who only allow 20 foreign films to be imported per year.

Hmm, maybe a “Revelations/Psycho Killer” mashup?

  18. Sad news. Randy and Val, whom some of you met last September, will be coming home today from a trip to Mexico. Her brother has the terrible job of pulling Val aside from getting off the plane and telling her her son committed suicide sometime while she was away. They found the body yesterday.

I’ll wait a couple of days then call her and offer her my condolences. I don’t think it’s right to call the day she finds out.

  19. While I have not had a lot of dealings with her kids (she has 3), this son in question once had hubby help him learn a piece of music on guitar so he could play it for an event.

I gather there was a rash of suicides in Calgary since Jan. 1st. As sad as it sounds, you just don’t really notice it, except as a piece on the six o’clock news, until you actually know the people involved.

  20. TEB: Oh, that’s terrible. 🙁

For those people who weren’t at the September MMMMMMeetup, Randy and Val’s voices can be heard in Deadpan #137. They participated in the Live Duel of the Fates game we played at the gathering. I was on their team (we were the team supporting James Bond).

  21. I’m very sorry for your friend, TEB.

Hi everyone. It’s been pretty rough for me for a few weeks – I’m keeping scarce until I’m fit for company. Miss you guys!

    xox

  22. @The Energizer Bunny

I’m sorry to hear about what happened. I’ve been working a lot with people in Calgary lately with my accounting job. Doing remote administrative work for a bunch of branches in and around Alberta and surrounding states and providences. Kinda odd working with these folks so closely but not quite knowing what’s going on in their area.

  23. @Vanamonde

    To be fair –

With more than 1,000 planes still waiting to land in Haiti, the commander of U.S. forces in the region says officials have opened a third alternate airport to hasten the movement of relief supplies.

While it would clearly be frustrating to be a Doctor on a plane and not be able to land … and clearly, Haiti needs all the doctors and medicine it can get … having these things just sit beside a runway next to all the other supplies that can’t be delivered yet because because there is not enough vehicles/people/cleared roads wouldn’t do anyone any good.
WORSE STILL – to have an air crash because it is left up to the pilots of hundreds of circling aircraft to decide who has the most important cargo/passenger to land next wouldn’t help the situation.

That article fails to mention the logistics of trying to land and off-load 100’s of aircraft and their supplies having to land on a damaged runway that had no lights or control tower.
Plenty of other articles describing the constant stream of aircraft and supplies coming in. Perhaps these frustrated doctors could have tried to coordinate with other groups and combine flights.
Sounds like they need fewer but larger/more packed aircraft … and extra landing strips (which they are apparently trying to build.

The whole thing just sucks. 🙁
