I actually picked up the digital edition other day, because William Gibson. I’m still on the fence, though. I need to reread the first issue, and see where the rest of it goes.
That really sucks. The Hip is one of my favorite bands. During an Earbuds segment with Lo, I traded a Hip song with him.
I’ve never been that familiar with their music, but I know they’re a huge source of pride for Canadians – – possibly on the level of Rush. Sad news indeed. Fuck cancers.
So I’m watching the latest GOT and laughing at Sansa lecturing about the North to an actor with a Geordie accent.
Geordie La Forge?
Here’s a funny one.
Just hearing that Congress took 1.3 billion from the TSA, money that had been raised by placing “fees” on every plane ticket sold, a fee justified as the way to pay for the TSA screening program … and instead of using that money to hire more TSA screeners they spent it to pay down the National Debt.
Hilarious.
Because raising taxes to pay down the National Debt is heresy. Raising a tax on airline travelers but calling it a FEE and saying it is for security but THEN diverting the money to pay down the Debt … why that isn’t raising taxes at all.
Just something to ponder next time you are waiting in line at a TSA checkpoint.
I fear jj that you’ve conjured up tumbleweeds with that common sense post.

Did you know JMDP is the first thing Google suggests when I turn on Chrome?
Kitty goes to the vet for a weigh in. I blame hubby for the fact she has become so large, and for the fact she hasn’t lost any of it.
Me: Why is there so much food in the cat dish?
Hubby: It was empty and she looked hungry
Me: Did you only give her two bedtime treats
Hubby: I gave her two…ish
Me: Twoish?
Hubby: There were two in it…
Me: *sigh*
the following is an email subject line I found in my inbox
“I’d wear these at night.” –Corey Hart
I found it amusing. I wondered how many people actually got it.
It took me 25 years to realize he was saying “Don’t mess around with a guy in shades” during that weird freaking out part, i.e.: the chorus.

Yep. I’m especially sad since I’ve never seen them in concert and now I will never get the chance.
I’d love for today to be the last awful day every in dealing with the bozo nightmare, but it won’t be.
Show that Bozo the curb!
I added something that rhymes with Pactronian to the music “box”. Hopefully that will bring a little joy to your day.
So it appears a lot of fans aren’t happy Marvel turned Captain America into a Hydra Nazi.
The creators of Captain America were Jewish, so still too soon Marvel I guess.

Not feeling the love to be honest.
So the older Draconian album “A Rose for the Apocalypse” is pretty great. The female singer isn’t as good as Heike, but I like the death metal vocals better than on “Sovran”. Reminds me of the early In Flames’ album “Colony”.
As someone who works in the publishing business, and, through my con connections, deals with authors of all types, some of her points are valid, though not all.
Women writers are not as left behind as they use to be (think James Tiptree). But, that in no way means they are considered on the same level as most male writers. I liken this to the whole female vs. male payscale, regardless of what industry you are in.
Speaking of pay, not all of the issue is female vs. male. In the writing industry, very few make enough to actually live on. And of those, even fewer make above a minimum living wage. This has nothing to do with gender, but more of the industry itself. They aren’t all Stephen Kings or J.K. Rowlings. This is similar to any of the arts such as acting, painting, etc.
To achieve even a modicum of success, you have to be able to be a shameless self promoter. Again, nothing to do with gender, it’s more about making yourself heard in a sea of voices. We have an author who refuses to do self promotion. He is of the opinion that the publisher does all the promotion and he doesn’t have to do any, and his sales suffer for it. I don’t care how big, or small, a publishing company you are with, you will end up doing 90% of your own promotion if you want to get any sales. A good example of this is Robert J. Saywer. I knew him in his early days before he was the A-List writer he is now. He was constantly doing cons, talks, basically everything he could to get his name out there. Even now, when he probably doesn’t need to do it as much, he still is his own best advertiser.
… I could go on but I’ll leave it at that, with one last thought: Tyche makes a point of seeking out either female authors, or stories with female protagonists. While we aren’t 100% we are around 90% female either writer or protagonist.
OK, I’ll get off my soapbox now.

I was doing some cleaning yesterday and found a half bottle of Sambuca. Hubby and I cannot remember when we bought it. Several years ago at least. I think I need to clean my cupboards more often.
I seem to have scared everybody away with my diatribe.
Nope, I was just playing with the tumbleweeds.
That was an excellent essay, Bunny. You said it really well. I’d never try to make any claims that sexism is a thing of the past (hello, Sad Puppies, Mad Max Fury Road, Star Wars VII, Ghostbusters 2016, etc), but I’d point out one thing:
The top-selling authors of the 2000s (at least as of a few years ago) are all women. Last I saw, Terry Pratchett was the only male author at the top of the charts, alongside JK Rowling, Stephanie Meyer, and some other mainstream female authors. This is a positive step toward diversity and better art in the long run.
And happy birthday to our own Roaming Asshat Used Hair!
Happy birthday AHUH
Thanks!
Finally Got to see Captain America – Civil War.
It was okay.
I was never a fan of the – Super Hero “A” vs Super Hero “B” genre of comics and now that it is on the screen … seems it is still not my thing.
SLIGHTLY SPOILER-ISH
The “Tony Stark suddenly gets a conscience” thing never became believable to me. I wish they had played it up as “Tony Stark wants to sign away the responsibility for the consequences of his actions. He still wants to reign destruction but have the culpability to blame it on those who sent him.”
I think this would have been very much in his already established character.
Also, as I over heard someone else say, “Rogers and the niece couldn’t have seemed more contrived. Bucky had more chemistry with those plumbs than Rogers had with Agent Carter’s niece.”
The kiss moment, though – – specifically his buddies’ reactions – -was possibly the best moment in any Marvel movie yet.
Did like the buddies reaction.
The throw away moments and lines may have been the best parts.
Stark yelling “Hey! Under-roos!” was fun.
I also liked the way Spidey and Ant Man were all “Fan Boy” with Captain America and Iron Man.
Ummm. So I recorded a movie named Sleeping Beauty from our local movie channel. It didn’t have a write up. That should have been my first clue. I seemed to have recoded a porno. While I have nothing against it, a little heads up would have been nice. Not so much for me (hubby and I will probably watch it together at another date) but surely at least a rating would be good for those who have kids. I can see some mom recording it for their kid. Hilarity would ensue
Didn’t get rained on during my walk but the sky has sure opened up now
So it looks like we’re going to see Repo Man on a big screen at some barcade tonight. Tiffany missed the RepoPalooza, so this will be her first time seeing it (I’ve already warned her).
The Postcards from your Hometown are über important to us (ok, Me.)
Trudat. Even if you can’t make it.
I’ll send a postcard with Van. I’ll grab one from the zoo when we’re there.
JF: The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle
Only a novella, a present day writer setting a tale in a Lovecraftian universe, I enjoyed it.
The HPL story he’s riffing against is one of the few Lovecraft stories I haven’t read.
..and why this appeared above is a bloody mystery.
So Sony lists the requirements for remote play of a PS4 as a minimum of Intel i5.
Installed the software n my puny Netbook and it worked quite well.
Way to go AMD.
Neat video about the Millennium Falcon’s design, although I would encourage you to read the comments on this one. The scholars are vehemently crying foul.
To this, I say the same thing I do about all coffee makers. How can you make a perfect cup of coffee when everybody’s opinion is different on what a perfect cup of coffee is? I actually know a person who prefers their coffee after it’s been sitting in a pot for some time. I call it sludge, he calls it “the perfect cup of coffee”.
I find that the “perfect cup of coffee” is also highly dependent on the location in which it is consumed and the company one is with while this occurs.
So today’s quest:
Find a postcard covering something in the town I live.
Well I got the postcard and I didn’t have to stand on a pile of my enemies to get it.
Aww. A picture of you standing on a pile of your enemies would have been cool 😉
Morning Pan
Had a very busy weekend. Expecting a busy week. I also have to find time to do some sewing this week, I’m way behind.
Sometime this month, I should clean out all the junk from the guest room. It’s amazing how much crap ends up piled up in a room that’s only used a couple times a year.
It’s gloomy and rainy outside. I like the rain. Everything is green and it smells all fresh and wonderful.
I saw it mentioned in the New Scientist, the technology is also going to be used in a new range of microwave ovens.
Cool tech. I’m curious to see the Cyberpunk Maxim applications for this: “The street finds its own uses.”
I really don’t get this recent phase of advertising. On the front page of this web site, I see that it has groundbreaking technology, what kind of technology goes into it, what the dimensions are, how it compares in size to thermos, then how it compares in price to a stove, that it has “clever ergonomics”, and even an FAQ page listing where it can be purchased, how portable it is, etc. Know the one thing that frond page doesn’t tell me? What the $%@# is this goddamned thing? Let’s just hope they didn’t combine it with my other least favorite advertising gimmick… the billboard with just a name and web site trying to peak your interest.
Meanwhile Captain America 3 passes 1billion worldwide after 25 days in release. There’s something to be said about proper story telling and presenting characters properly. When it comes to super hero film, make mine Marvel.
Well Pan,
I’m off to see the Warcraft film.
I’ve never played an online Warcraft game.
It was ok, probably a lot went over my head as I don’t play Warcraft.
I’ve watched “The Guild”. Is it like that?
I haven’t so I don’t know.
I logged many hours on the pre-MMORPG Warcraft 2, on campaigns and vs. friends. I assume the film is aimed more at fans of the big game, so not me. Even if it was directed by David Bowie’s son.

It’s Belgium day once again.
Mmmmm.
I am especially found of the Belgium Tripple!
That’s completely fine, Van. Especially if you used fun Royal Mail stamps.
If memory serves, Bunny is going to give you a Calgary postcard for hand delivery (?)
Yes, that’s correct.
Did I miss something about postcards? I’ve had my head down with work for a while, so I’ll admit that I haven’t been paying much attention.
Alas they only had a rather boring stamp, but you’ll get the post mark.
We’re just asking friends to bring or send a postcard from your hometown for the wedding. If you have roots in a few places (e.g.: Kansas and Toronto), then it’s your decision which postcard to bring.
I’m not sure if they make postcards for Orlando, FL. Most people have never heard of it.
On a more serious note, if we can really call what I’m about to say serious, the town just to the north of me is Taintsville. I’ll have to see if they make any postcards with that on them. That would be worthy of any collection.
I have some concerns about the neighboring towns.
I missed it too, ditto

Moving in 11 days, and heading on tour in China in two weeks. Crazy times. So far: Ningbo, Shanghai, Wuhan, Changsha. I’ll try and report through the chinese firewall when I am there.
I hear they have great take-out.
Surely it’s take in? as he will actually be in China.
Sadly, they don’t have sweet and sour chicken balls, or fortune cookies. Last time, I knowingly ate Donkey meat.
Happy touring, Soulier! And good luck with the Great Firewall of China.
Xie Xie (thank you)!
Where are you moving to? Close or not so close to your current residence?
Just a couple blocks away, fortunately.
Unlike us, who are moving way the hell a far from our current home as you can get. I think we will have to get movers.
The weight restrictions on hand luggage the Air Canada flight to Phoenix are really going to
Kick my ass this year.
Will have to use a smaller bag and find a laundromat.
I’m sure you can use our washer before you go.

ditto that SPC ECO album is pretty darn good. I will say theres a lot more electronica than Im used to ESPECIALLY when it comes to shoegaze but that makes it interesting. Her voice is amazing, almost a sweeter version of Miki from Lush.
I believe I will be watching James Bond and eating Pizza tonight.
Can’t remember which Bond I am up to. “Tomorrow Never Dies” perhaps?
Sadly, tonight was “The World is Not Enough”.
Not a very strong movie and OMG, Denise Richards is a terrible actress.
I’ve actually never seen a Brosnan Bond film.
Two of my Favorite Bond films are Brosnan Bonds.
Brosnan’s James Bond gave us “Die Another Day” which gave us Rosamund Pike. That alone forgives anything else about them.
I thought Godeneye was good fun and Tomorrow Never Dies had the delectable Michelle Yeoh.
I thought Goldeneye was good fun and Tomorrow Never Dies had the delectable Michelle Yeoh.
There was recently a case (I think in Texas) were they had decided to try a Teenager as an adult for having nude pictures of an underage kid on his phone.
The pictures were selfies he took.
Besides the fact that he was being considered both the victim AND the perpetrator … he is being classified by the legal system as simultaneously being a minor AND an adult.
It boggles the mind.
And yes, this should have been with the post above.
On reflection, telling the young wAitress at the coffee shop that her tattoo on her arm was an image from My Neighbor Totoro was not a good idea.
I got the creep look.
+I +recognised
In my experience, tattoos are rather personal and not up for judgement
I wasn’t judging, just the click of recognition where it was from.
You’re not a creepy guy, Van. The problem isn’t you.
Personally, if someone recognizes where one of my tattoos is from (especially a more obscure reference) I squee like a little girl. It brings me great joy. I don’t understand people that enjoy something enough to get a tattoo of it and then don’t want to have other people look at it. Doesn’t make much sense.
So don’t take it the wrong way if Van compliments your Wizards-inspired tattoo.
Exactly. Outside of the online community, I’ve had exactly one person recognize where that tattoo is from. Oddly enough it was a vendor of hand made ceramic mugs at a Scottish Highland Games Festival. I thanked the guy profusely.

Today we decided which of two homes we want to place an offer on. Decisions, decisions.
(BTW Van, we’re looking at an end of July possession date so will not affect your visit one whit… I guess I should start thinking of an itinerary)
Sounds like preliminary congrats are in order?
Poor Van.
I just sent him a big email and gave him homework. I’m a horrible taskmaster.
Oh! I didn’t ask if you have a problem with heights! That would also make a difference on whether or not we go to Sulphur Mountain.
No problem with heights.
Although it looks like it’s not fully open till August 1st.

Putting this out there. I would like to visit the Grand Canyon while out in Phoenix. It’s on my bucket list. It sounds like Van is interested too. The trips can be up to 13 hours depending on where we visit and how. The best options are Friday before the party or Sunday. Is there anyone else interested in going before I look at more details?
Me! Me! Me!
Oh wait 🙁
Can you do Thurs instead?
It depends on Van’s flight. He doesn’t come in until Thursday
I won’t get to Phoenix early Evening on Thursday.
But if Thursday works for more people, than don’t let me stop you.
It won’t work with my schedule this trip.
Will not make that but that’s ok as Ive seen it quite a few times as to not be hurt if yall go.
So I’m being “left in charge” of my unit at work for the next several days and I take great pride in that and have puffed up my feathers. Go (career woman) Me!
:w00t:

You know you’re avoiding work when you start watching this
I’m with the crowd that says this is being blown out of proportion.
Same.
I believe the Studio Execs’ memo read: “More Gungans.”
Probably not enough lens flare….
From @reelchanger on Twitter:
It would help if they didn’t call it “reshoots.” How about “Extra Time and Money to Make Good Movie Even Better?”
And, I don’t think I’ll be making the Grand Canyon this trip either. I’ll be coming in Friday afternoon and most likely leaving Sunday evening.
That said, it is most impressive and definitely worth a visit.

The sun is already peeking its’ head above the horizon and the birds are chirping. Looks like the start of a good day.
Well, will you look at that. It looks like we bought a new home. (not the one I linked to earlier, that house was just stupidly set up in reality)
What I’d like to know is how we went from, “Our house needs some major work” to “Let’s buy a new one”. *shakes head*
Although, from going through our stuff, I’ve become of the opinion we should have done this earlier, and more often. We sure have a lot of crap accumulated over the last 20 years. This will force us to do some much needed culling.
Congratulations! Share pics of the actual place when you can.
Jack, I can give you the link to the realty site which has pics, just not on a public forum. I’ll pop you off an email.
This cat just discovered, if she jumps up on my printer, she can reach the window in my office. I’m not sure how I feel about her jumping on my printer.
I don’t know, between you and hubby, dinners are going to be interesting around here.
CP: Fakey Fake — Earlimart
We listened to quite a bit of the “Top 500 Songs” thing that our local Classic Rock station did over the weekend. I haven’t heard this kind of thing in ages, but the Classic Rock stations in NY also used to do this gimmick every Memorial Day, back in the 80s, 90s, and early 00s. The #1 song was pretty much almost always “Stairway to Heaven,” with “Satisfaction” and “Born To Run” at #2 and #3.
We didn’t catch the top 3 live this year, but the station posted the total list on their site. I recognize these kinds of things are designed to stir debate. . . but. . Really? Have things changed that much in the past 10-15 years? Fucking “Sweet Emotion” was #1? Really?
I heard a similar list of songs years back on a KC radio station. They advertised that their number one song wouldn’t be “Stairway”, which ended up being #2. The number one rock song of all time was “Enter Sandman”.
In other words: it could be worse. . . .
“Sweet Emotion” isn’t even a bad song, but #1??
For those of you with the Jeff Goldblum fixations (you know who you are):
He was a regular in a Scottsdale restaurant in his old age, and was supposedly the nicest guy. He definitely made his mar on the twentieth century. RIP

Another hubbiless evening.
So American Gods and A Canticle for Leibowitz are cheap on US audible today.
Hmmm.
I honestly couldn’t get through “Canticle.” My sincerest apologies for being a cretin.
Yesterday we pulled everything out from the storage area under the stairs. If I hadn’t see it myself, there would be no way I’d believe that much stuff could fit in that small area.
The cat has discovered, if she lays on the papers in front of me on my desk, she’ll get chin scrubs. I think I’m giving her the wrong message.
There will be a Pacific Rim 2, but Del Toro has been pushed out. Also bad, it would seem that Charlie Hunnam is still involved.

So that Ready Player One was a super fun read. . . But. . . I also felt like I was being pandered to, with the overload of references and geek wish-fulfillment. I have more spoilery thoughts on it, but you’ll most likely read the book yourself or see the movie, when it comes out.
I loved the first game so will probably be picking this up, flaws and all:
Crap joke for the day;
Noticing this, a policeman stopped her, and said, “Ma’am, there are $20 bills falling out of that bag.”
“Oh, really? Darn it!” said the little old lady. “I’d better go back and see if I can find them. Thanks for telling me officer.
“Well, now, not so fast,” said the cop.“Where did you get all that money? You didn’t steal it, did you?”
“Oh, no, no”, said the old lady. “You see, my back yard is right next to a Golf course.
A lot of Golfers come and pee through a knot hole in my fence, right into my flower Garden. It used to really tick me off. Kills the flowers, you know. Then I thought, ‘why not make the best of it?
So, now, I stand behind the fence by the knot hole, real quiet, with my hedge clippers.
Every time some guy sticks his thing through my fence, I surprise him, grab hold of it and say, ‘O.K., buddy! Give me $20, or off it comes.’
“Well, that seems only fair,” said the cop, laughing. “OK. Good luck! Oh, by the way, what’s in the other bag?”
“Not everybody pays.”

Van– your postcard is PERFECT! We also really enjoy the Postmark on it! Thank You for sending it early and I bet now that you don’t have to carry it on the plane, you will not be charged any over-the-weight-limit fees! ftw

It’s just going on 6am here and it’s already 27C. in this house.
The guest room is usually the coolest in the house. If it’s this warm when Van comes, I might make him change rooms with us.
Eeeek!
I’m a bunny, not a mouse.
You must have walked in while he was changing
Once Upon a Time is pretty silly, but the Hansel and Gretyl witch is awesome
We gave up on Once Upon a Time somewhere around the Peter Pan story line.
She is. I enjoy her much more than Cruella. And yes it is, but still entertaining
He appears to have forgotten that the good old days were nothing of the sort.
Just go and learn about how the Victorians would adulterate basic foods with all sorts of crap.
This sounds like a super cranky old person rambling. Seriously? At what point did any real person only eat potato chips made by the Amish in their youth? Is this person 150 years old? It’s a bit over the top. I agree that we should eat more foods that we make from scratch ourselves… but extremist diets like this take a kind of dedication that 99% of the population simply can’t handle.
Also, it would cut out beer, cheese, and bacon (all labeled foods) from my life. There’s not a snowballs chance in hell those things are going away.
My take on that philosophical diet approach would absolutely allow for bacon, beer, and cheese, although maybe not Bac-Os(TM), Bud Light, and individually-wrapped Velveeta singles. My take:
Try to eat more foods with simple ingredient lists. Eat fewer foods with long ingredient lists which include a bunch of 10-syllable words.
— Maybe I’m willfully misinterpreting his words to suit my own feelings. I think he also said we should invest more in the space program and establish Martian colonies by 2020.
So I’m listening to the latest to the latest Tegan and Sara album.
It’s nice enough I guess.
I’ll get my coat.
I should give it a full listen. I’ve only listened to the first track so far, but that was also my reaction.
I’ll get my cap.
Its a good album. Its simple and poppy yes… and no its not like their indie rock, but its well crafted and contains some of their best lyrics. I also neve can see how one can give an entire album a reaction just by listening top one song. Its line giving a 5 season series a reaction after watching the pilot.
Agreed. Let no album be judged on the merits of just one track.
My gran rang this morning to tell me that my 98 year old grandad had just died. I rushed round to comfort her, and over a cup of tea she told me that he had died during their usual Sunday morning sex session…..
Aghast that they were still at it, she reassured me that they took it nice and gentle, to the rhythm of the church bells. “In on the ding, out on the dong,” she said. “And he’d still be alive if the fucking ice cream van hadn’t come round…”
Now that’s Good Humor.

Let’s see if the weather will become something a little more tolerable today
In three weeks the Vanster comes to visit!
I’ll to paint on go faster stripes to live up to Vanster.
You still have time to set up the Vanster wheel.
Oh shit, I haven’t donated yet to ditto’s June thing yet. ditto, can you post the info here, when you get a minute, please?
Spot on. I’ve been mulling this very subject recently, but this crystallizes the points really eloquently.
Agreed. I’ve seen this in action.
I can recall in my early 20’s, not having cable TV and there was no internet (gasp), actually putting an album on to listen to. Not as background music for what ever else I was doing. I’d put it on and lay by the stereo looking at the cover art and reading the liner notes as I listened.
Can’t remember the last time I took the luxury of doing that. Actually, Now I don’t know how long I could JUST listen without feeling the need to multi-task. :/
I recall the days when a song – – or hell, even a riff inside of a song – – or hell, a soulful moment in a guitar solo – – could feel like it was instilled with great importance.
Now, all music is seen as disposable. The most inspired, brilliant phrasing is met with blank indifference – – or at best, its song gets a couple of Thumbs Up in some social media space.
Should I get money exchanged now or wait for the result of the away referendum, which will probably have a big hit in the exchange rate.
Hmmmm..
RIP ‘Mr. Hockey’. A legend among legends

Get out of here. I recall watching him and his sons playing for the Hartford Whalers in the 80s. There will never be another Gordie Howe. RIP.
A bit disappointing that it was basically a setup for S5, but it’s been a ‘fun’ ride this season.
I thought it worked well not pushing the typical “dun dun DUNNNN!” cliff hanger. They’ve been confirmed for two more seasons, so they don’t really need to rely on such tricks at this point.
I enjoyed the season and thought it made for some solid and compelling story telling. Though, the body count (at least in getting rid of characters one way or another) was extremely high.
Good night, John Boy….
The Expanse S1, then Orphan Black S4, then. . . maybe we’ll get to that one?

These mass shootings that happen here have been labeled as terrorist attacks, rather than domestic violence attacks. Could that be why no one thinks about the gun control and mental illness connection?
So sad that two separate attacks in Orlando in two days are being viewed from different perspectives, and yet they each yielded the same end result.
It’s a hate crime and should be treated as such.
Mental illness is the greatest problem in the world today, but its link to gun control is complex. We’re decades away from sensible gun control in the U.S., even further in the world. It’s the same for proper, serious mental health treatment, believe me.
We’ve got to get shit started in this generation, though. We’ll never see legitimate change, but maybe our grandchildren will.
Doubt this was mental illness. This was cold, calculating, and he was ‘educated’ by the wrong people whomever those people end up being.
To be honest, only the Marvel shows and The new season of Orange is the new Black that is keeping me subscribed.
In my book, homicidal hate is always a mental illness. Maybe not the same flavor as Depression or schizophrenia … but an aberrance in mental processing none the less.
Here is a philosophical point for consideration. While this murderer’s connection with a non-domestic terror group remains to be seen, let’s postulate for a moment that he WAS motivated by ISIS. No amount of increase in military spending, or massive deployment of US troops to the middle east or even “Nuking” of some unfortunate foreign country could have stopped this. He was an individual with a fukd up head and a sense of morality that said random KILLING of other human beings is A-OK.
I just don’t see a military solution to this. This sort of “attack” is an individual who has seen this work, has seen the endless news coverage it generates – and suddenly feels empowered at the thought of copying these actions.
How do we even begin to put this genie back in the bottle?
Gawd it’s bloody slow, one more episode like this and I’m done.
I cant speak for the show but the comic is an amazingly well thought out, tense, ultra-smart slow burn.
They could be being faithful to the comic then.
I’ve been hearing good things.
So finished the PS4 version of Gone Home.
What a creepy game without anything supernatural happening.
Penguins, huh? Eh thats fine I guess
Good for Crosby’s legacy. And awesome to see Mario hold the Stanley Cup again.
I do kinda wish Luigi would have been there to share it.
You should stop eating those mushrooms.
There must be an evil shark somewhere in some Mario World game.
This Arya storyline had better be done this episode. Its seriously like a bad horror movie.
Considering the current high exchange rate pound/Canadian dollar, might be better to just get all Canadian dollars and then convert the unused dollars to US (since that is almost one to one).
Hmmmmm.
Hey Van, not sure where you got your information but, the exchange rate from Canadian to US funds is 30%, not par. I sped $200 US the other day and it cost me $260.
Thanks TEB, ah well it probably work out if I bought the dollars in the first place.
You live and learn.
So off to see this today, even though it came out in 2014 it’s just going on General release in the UK:
I remember taking some out of town guests to Banff once. On the side of the road was a bear. A number of tourists stopped to take pictures. Among them was one group of Japanese tourists who had young kids. They were encouraging the kids to get closer to the bear so they could get a good picture. As we were watching, I was imagining the headlines on the news. Luckily for them, the bear didn’t actually attack. A lot of people seem to forget that, even though you see a bear in a populated area, it is still a wild animal. It’s name isn’t Ben, and it is not gentle.
*shakes head at the stupidity of people*
Morning Pan
Had a busy and productive weekend. Now it’s back to routine.
I just want you to know, this moving thing has seriously cramped my reading style. I have read so little in the past week, I think I’m going through withdrawal.
Well that should keep me ahead of you this year…for a while.
There’s a new man in our lives and he’s 8lb 8oz.
Name to come. Leaning toward Hudson.
Awwww, you’ll be able to show him Hudson Hawk and educate him how not to make a film…
Awesome news! Congratulations to mom, dad, and all the new siblings! And happy birthday to the young Lo Pan, possibly Hudson.
Congratulations. Laynie and Dani are officially outnumbered. ♡
Congrats!!!!
Congratulations Lo Pan!!!!
And obviously. . . you’re busy. . . but um, post pics when you can.
I even feel totally outnumbered!! Take a ride on the LoPan Sausage Wagon!
Such exciting news for your family! I trust Dani and Baby Boy Lo are both happy and healthy.
Great work, Dad!
Congrats!
Been away for a while and I missed this. Congratulations Lo Pan! Should the world be concerned that Lo Pan has another henchman in his army? But sincerely, great news man!
I’ve been away as well. Just catching up.
Congradts to the Lo Pan Clan!
Thanks everyone for you Relay For Life donations! 😀
Crap mini joke for the day:
Q.What do you call a man with 2 birds of prey, vacuuming with the light out?
A. Hawk Kestrel Man Hoovers in the Dark
Of course if you haven’t heard any electropop from the 80’s you won’t get that..
I’ll get you your coat. . . . If You Leave.
But don’t leave now…
Please don’t waste a single day
Don’t.

Comment of the day from The Onion:
“Yes because what definitely would have prevented this tragedy is mostly drunk people with guns returning fire in a dimly lit nightclub. I can’t see that going wrong at all.”
I’m a little nostalgic now. I wonder where the author lives in NJ. Diners are a different kind of thing there than the rest of the U.S. They’re really state institutions; my first breakfast when I went back last year was at a diner.
The food is never very good, it’s downright awful at a bad one, but they’re often social destinations, more than culinary experiences. I can’t tell you how many late evenings in the 90s I spent with friends over bland fries and club sandwiches at those places.
Morning Pan
Another beautiful day
For those who aren’t Facebook enabled.
“Pinky is a very loving cat. He’s our pet of the week.”
So, the first hit on this page gives me the warning. I don’t have a problem when visiting the feed page.
Looking at the page source, there’s some odd stuff, but I don’t know for sure what belongs and what doesn’t. The XML Friends Network looks benign but pointless. I’m not sure what bellevuehigh62.com, but jQuery seems a popular point of attack nowadays.
So I booted up the original Mirror’s Edge on the PS3 , eight years later and it still looks cool and plays great.
Thanks for the troubleshooting, ditto. I’m going to dive in tonight. I’ve also spoken to Tony M as st, who’s also going to do some maintenance work.
Thanks everyone, actually, for your testing. And that’s Tony Mast, not M as st.
It looks like Tony did some updates. I’ve done some digging around too, but I haven’t been able to find the offending files. Meh.
Morning Pan
Another day full of spreadsheets for this bunny
Just as an FYI, my systems also came up with a Trojan:JS/Redirector.qs when I ran MS Defender. Not sure about today, though.
I’m still getting it. I sent Jack some more detailed info about the js code.
Crap joke for the day:
A policeman caught a nasty little boy with a bb gun in one hand and a raccoon in the other. “Now Listen here,” the policeman said, “Whatever you do to that poor, defenseless creature I shall personally do to you” “In that case,” said the boy. “I’ll kiss it’s butt and let it go”
In answer to Van’s question, today’s movie is The Visit (the only one on my DVR at the moment)
The DVR writeup: A teen and her young brother discover a shocking secret about their seemingly charming grandparents while staying at their remote Pennsylvania farm
We did see this one in the theater. I’ll read the PBP in full when it’s done 🙂
I rallies this movie was more… “Mainstream” as far as theatre release goes so I’m going to make this PBP as vague as possible. If you watch this movie, see if you can figure out what scene I’m referring to
Rallies? Really auto correct.? That’s what you get from realize?
Pushing play now
PG? Really? That’s no fun
Interview
On a side note, my iPad is having slow down issues with the Pan so I might be behind in my PBP
Wow. There’s subtlety and then there’s subtlety. Mind blown. I dug this show in the 80s.
Still looking for the solution to the stupid problem. I appreciate you hanging in there.
If you kneel before your god in prayer
But do not cry for those who died;
If you raise your voice in hymns of praise
But cast the plight of others aside;
Then I call you false, your religion lies
To you, and tempts with ephemeral prize.
If you say the words from mouth not heart
And close your ears to pain;
If you play along, but not your part
Then you’re a traitor to the game;
For all faiths preach of hope and love
And of kindness done for a god above.
It matters not what faith you claim
The central core is just the same.

Morning Pan
I’ve decided to just visit through my tablet until the whole Trojan thing is sorted
I think, when I clean the washroom today, I’ll also do the guest washroom. That way it’s done and I don’t have to worry about it in two weeks when I have a very special guest
I resisted asking who the special guest was…
Hmmm. I must have cleaned the guest washroom some time between now and when I last had guests. It seemed pretty spic and span already
Missy Elliott is what gets us through Today
Actually – – Tony appears to have succeeded where I have failed. I’ve not yet run the bug checker, but we’re apparently in the clear again.
My virus checker no longer reports a problem. Huzzah!
And to think that back in the day Trogans were supposed to prevent the spread of viruses.
A guy finds his dog with the neighbor’s pet rabbit in its mouth. The rabbit is dead and the guy panics. He takes the dirty, chewed up rabbit into the house. He gives it a bath, blow dries its fur, and puts it back into the cage at the neighbor’s house, hoping they will think it died of natural causes. A few days later, the neighbor asks the guy, “Did you hear that Fluffy died?” The guy stammers and says, “Um… no… what happened?” The neighbor replies, “We found him dead in his cage one day, but the weird thing is that the day after we buried him, someone had dug him up, gave him a bath and put him back into the cage. There are some real sick people out there!”
Is this CJOTD Energizer Bunny-approved?
It’s the weekend so that is a no.
Are you saying I’m a grumpy bunny don’t approve of things over the weekend? :ermm:
Nope, just that you usually have other fish to fry at the weekend :-p
Frustration:
Trying to sign in to a sisters email account as she’s forgotten the password, the phone number linked to the account and the answers to the security questions….
Try “password”
Alas she wasn’t that dumb.
We apparently just had a Nessie sighting in Crossy Road, but alas, she got away. It’s apparently as rare as the real thing.
What a freak accident and this one hits me hard. 🙁
I hope Father’s Day was a good one for all the Deadpan dads and folks paying tribute to their dads.
We had a great, busy weekend around here with the kids: Technorama Pool Party, Aliens on the big screen at a local theater, a Sunday at an old school retro arcade, and fancy burgers for dinner.
Thank you, Desert Pixie for making it all happen. You rock my world :metal:
They’ve been playing the Westworld trailer a lot on HBO. I will be making it to my PVR.
Morning Pan
It’s a beautiful, sunny, Monday morning here in Bunnyland.
Today pictures are being taken of our house to put on the real estate listing. Our weekend was spent scrubbing the place down.
My desk has never been so clean. It feel wrong.
Hubby’s running a little late. He usually has left by now. Must go kick him out the door.
12 days (including today) until The Vanster comes a-visiting! Thursday, when I have lunch with my Boo, I must hit the store to get some cherry Coke (or wild cherry Pepsi), as well as a few other things.
Cherry ????
Ack!
Your email said, “On the pop front, pretty much anything as long as it’s cherry flavoured”
Did you mean “NOT” cherry flavoured? I’m glad I had a chance to qualify before I purchased.
NOT.
I thought you were pulling my leg.
I’ll be in the corner feeling rather embarrassed.
😆
No cherry. Got it!
Today is my mom’s birthday. Can I just skip the phone call.
I must admit Other than a short story I haven’t read any Zelazny:
I’ve read quite a few of the Amber series when I was younger.
Per everyone’s advice, I read the “Amber” portion of the series and skipped the “Chaos” books. They were surprisingly stylish for 70s SF. I may re-read them eventually.
I read a bunch of Zelazny, but I have to admit, I never got into his stuff.
I had a minor “scare” over the weekend. I thought I broke a toe. Fortunately it is only badly bruised.
I am disappointed. Regardless of what the show runner said about him always intending it to be a 3 season run, the last few episodes and the series “ending” felt extremely rushed. I loved the series otherwise. They really needed two more seasons to flesh out all the loose ends they left.
Happy Birthday, Mamma Bunny!
Anyone else reaping benefits from the Ticketmaster Class Action lawsuit?
I too got the Ticket Master settlement.
Don’t know what I will do with it though.
Might work better onAndroid as it’s glitchy on my iPhone.
Morning Pan
Have to go downtown to city hall later this morning.
Give ’em hell at city hall, Bunny!
. . . or . . . take care of that paperwork that needs to be done.
Crap joke for the day:
As the crowded elevator descended, Mrs. Simpson became too furious with her husband, who was delighted to be pressed against a gorgeous blonde. As the elevator stopped at the main floor, the blonde suddenly whirled, slapped Mr. Simpson, and said, “That will teach you to pinch!” Bewildered, Mr. Simpson was halfway to the parking lot with his wife when he choked, “I…I…didn’t pinch that girl.” “Of course you didn’t” said his wife, consolingly. “I did.”
Ouch, ditto!
Darn on Penny Dreadful!
Orange is the New Black S4 kept me up last night. Great writing.
I miss so much by not being here.
Indeed, you do!
I’m sorry. I will try to fix that…
Naughty Cj!
Congrats on the new home Bunny
Has anyone else noticed that it gets quieter here the closer we get to a Mmeetup?
Ebb and flow.
Heh heh… you said, “Ebb”
Van, did you stop watching Wynona Earp after your first impression? It looks pretty gay-might have to check it out!
I did, just was not that impressed with the first episode.
I’m not Van and I haven’t seen the show, but I’ll butt in anyway.
The SyFy channel ads for the show seemed to be saying: “Never mind the low budget – – look how hot our lead actress is! And she’s a brunette wearing denim; that means she’s tough!”
But maybe I’m just being cynical.
I miss out on a lot by not having cable.
Oh, no wait… actually, I don’t 🙂
You’re not. I haven’t had cable or satellite for 5 years and its glorious.
I’ll watch for it on one of the streamies!
Yeah, no cable here this decade. Plenty of streaming options, though. I saw the Wynonna Earp ads (8,000 times) while watching The Expanse.
Argh, sports blackouts!!!
Archer has been renewed for 3 more seasons.
I should catch up on Archer after I finish reading The Bell Jar.
. . . possibly not the best display of her acting ability.
The film ‘The Rocketeer’ is 25 years old, feeling old yet?
..and yes I did see it on it’s Theatrical release.
I feel more old when one of the kids fresh out of college at work tell me that they were too young to have seen Ren & Stimpy. It was before their time.
Yes, I saw it in its Theatrical release, but for some reason I thought it was older than 25 years.
I showed the kids the Rocketeer trailer to get them psyched to watch it. They declared it lame. We never watched it.
So ticket booked to to see the ID:Resurgence tomorrow.
Morning All. Today the for sale sign goes up in our yard.
Wow. Big day!
J & T. For uploading pictures, do you want them clean? I have a pic of Jack giving the camera the finger. Wasn’t sure if it was appropriate or not, give there will be others besides DP people there.
Also, any particular size you’d prefer the photos? I have 18 (including the “bad” one) you can have.
Thanks, Bunny! Feel free to share any and all with Tiff and me – – but yeah, middle finger pics don’t necessarily belong in wedding slideshows. 🙂
ok, done
Van, do you take some form of whitener in your tea? If so, do you prefer milk, cream, or half and half?
Milk is fine, I prefer full fat on cereal and in tea, but happy with semi-skinned and skimmed milk.
We’re learning a lot about Van’s food preferences this week 😉
The horror, the horror…
Kitty and I were playing with the laser today. She was not a happy camper when I shut it off and went back into my office to get some work done.
Good morning.
Two days in a row.
Should I make this a habit?
Yessssssss!
Aww Van! You make me feel like I belong!
Foshizzle.
Prince Be – – the guy from P.M. Dawn – – has died.
So I’m watching the new season of OITNB and finally realise I just don’t give a flying fuck about Piper. In fact reading hearing spoilers about the season finale I’m bloody disappointed it didn’t happen to her.
Still enjoying the series for the other characters.
I guess the free Ticketmaster vouchers I got loaded up with are really just a big fat disappointing lame headache of a solution.
Boo
Well, my home is now on the real estate website for the world to see. We’ve already had a bite. Someone is coming around lunch time tomorrow to check it out. That means, lunch with my Boo as I’m not suppose to be around then.
The new ID film was a disappointment, I bet Lo will revel in it’s tackiness, but it was just bloody tedious at times.
Sad to hear.
Yesterday I re-watched the original and was delighted at how well it held up (yes you have to suspend disbelief on … well, just about everything but HEY – IT’S A MOVIE). I was especially surprised at the performances turned in by Smith and Goldblum. I don’t know if they forgot that this was just a “summer fun, popcorn, action adventure film” or if maybe they challenged each other to bring their “A” game but I thought they were great. They really played off each their well. Surprised we haven’t seen them together in something else since then.
If you are on Twitter do a search for:
#DogsAtPollingStations
You won’t just get dog photos though…
Morning Pan
I was going to post something amazing but I forgot what it was so you get this instead.
TiCK, post office says your parcel was delivered. Tell me it wasn’t lying?
Who is TiCK?
TIfanny jaCK
Spooooooooon!
I suppose it’s better than Jaffany. . .
Yes! We just picked it up from our office, and were blown away by the contents. 🙂 Thank you, thank you, thank you! (and sorry for being slow on the Thanks!)
I literally had to make hubby leave for work this morning. Around lunch time today we are having a showing of our home to a potential buyer. One of many, I expect. Hubby was going around the house straightening everything up. At one point he lost the sponge he was using to wipe everything down and then went around the house looking for it and swearing. He was also straightening up any paperwork he found. I work from home. I was trying to work this morning, since I have to leave the house for an hour while the showing is happening. I do not appreciate the papers on my desk being straightened up as I’m working at my desk, using said papers. I had a half finished cup of apple juice on my desk that he took, washed the cup, and put it away. I was drinking that.
First of all, we are not messy people. Our kids use to complain we were the cleanest people they know. Second, we spent the weekend washing the house down, including walls, floors, etc. Lastly, this is the first of many viewings we are going to have. He needs to calm down or he’ll get an ulcer.
Van, I don’t suppose you can come a week earlier and stay two weeks? 😉 He needs something to get his mind off this move.
She’s certainly living up to the blond stereotype.
Ha! I thought the same thing but didn’t say it as I know there are a few blonds around the Deadpan.
It’s a good thing I almost never use mail since Canada Post will likely go on strike in July.
Good luck to your nation, Van!!
I voted in, I really don’t like the leave campaign (and my personal experience of leave supporters) harking back to a golden age that was nothing of the sort.
Sadly xenophobia is on the rise in the UK, so I’mnot hopeful.
On Sunday, John Oliver did a good bit on Last Week Tonight, regarding the EU.
Also sadly, the xenophobic crowd here isn’t much different.
The “golden age” that these people believe in never existed.
This is a lot closer than I thought it would be and they only have about 50% of the votes in
Shared from a non-dp friend. I know. But the comments are worth it
For when you really need to tackle those big jobs! 😉
I wonder what its shelf life is? I’m asking for a friend.
Is it like a Twinkie? I hope it is like a Twinkie.
Just sayin’. 🙂
Just be leery of the creamy filling.
That’s what she said. 😉
I think I won’t click that link on my work computer 🙂
That 55-gallon drum came up during a game of Cards Against Humanity, so one of the guys looked it up on Amazon. He later looked up a giant vibrating pickle, in response to another card.
He then realized that his Amazon search history now had “55 gallon drum of lube” and a “giant vibrating pickle.”
And yet another reason why privacy is a myth.
Crap joke for the day:
A husband and wife are shopping in their local supermarket. The
husband picks up a case of beer and puts it in their cart. “What
do you think you’re doing?” asks the wife. “They’re on sale,
only £20 for 24 cans” he replies. “Put them back, we can’t
afford them” demands the wife.
They carry on shopping. A few aisles farther on, the woman picks
up a £40 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket. “What do
you think you’re doing?” asks the husband. “It’s my face cream.
It makes me look beautiful,” replies the wife. Her husband
retorts: “So does 24 cans of beer and it’s half the price.”
That’s him, there in Aisle 5.
Good morning.
It’s Thursday… Never could get the hang of….
oh never mind.. it’s overdone.
I’ve been kicked out of my house again. I think it’s a good sign. The house was just listed yesterday and this is its third viewing. There is already a forth viewing booked for Saturday
That’s a lot of strange people for your cat to scope out.
Yeah. She’s pretty stressed. We’ve been giving her extra lives and treats
Loves not lives
Obvious 9 lives joke goes here.
Thanks for throwing yourself on that for us.
Well bigotry won.
A sad day for those in the UK who are not xenophobic.
Cameron’s resigning too, eh? Sadly it seems that the conservatives there followed the ‘Trump’ model of ‘getting the UK back to its roots”. Ugh. I fear this is a precursor to Nov here
… because Isolationism and Nationalism have ended so well for Europe/the world in the past.

#doomedtorepeatmistakes
Fear of “them” seems to be the ultimate populous motivator.
Enter “Irony”.
These terrorist groups know they don’t have enough bullets to kill all of us … so their real goal is to make us so AFRAID of them that we will give in and change our code of morals and the way we live our lives.
… and the Trumps and Faux News followers of the world are more than willing to just roll over and submit to the fear.
It looks like you got your Canadian money at the right time, Van
Yeah…
I’m avoiding cleaning the washroom. I know I need to do it, and it will get done. I’m just protesting first
This is great. Mass amounts of Kyuss and Tool inspired groove doom here.
Rhett, Jack… I dont know if you watch Orange is the New Black but here’s the actress that plays Maria Ruiz’ ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1478791/ ) deathcore band.
Loved the show in its early days, but it (i.e., Piper) kind of lost me last season. I do like that girl and her character, though. Even more, now that I know she has her own deathcore band.
Sorry, Gang. But Independence Day: Resurgence Is Really Bad
“For the most part, the sequel to the 1996 smash isn’t good-bad, or dumb-fun-bad, or I-just-need-to-kill-two-hours bad. It’s like a whole new species of crappiness.”
Teacher Arrested At Sydney Airport – Held in Isolation.
A secondary school teacher was arrested today at Sydney ‘s Kingsford Smith Airport as he attempted to board an international flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a pair of compasses, a slide-rule and a calculator.
At a press conference, an Australian Border Control spokesman said he believes him to be a member of the notorious extremist Al-Gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the Federal Police with carrying weapons of maths instruction.
‘Al-Gebra can be a problem for all of us’, the Spokesman said. ‘They derive solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values. They maintain secrecy by using secret codenames such “X” and “Y” and refer to themselves as “unknowns” but we have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country.’
As the Greek philosopher Isosceles used to say, “There are three sides to every triangle”.
When asked to comment on the arrest, Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said – “If God had wanted us to have better weapons of maths instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes.”
Fellow Labour colleagues told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the Opposition Leader.
Van, because Canada is so nice, we want to prepare you for the heat of Arizona. As such the weather girl is currently predicting 27C for Saturday
I’lladd sun block to what I need to buy ASAP when I reach Canada.
I’m sure we can supply sun screen
Can, I got another spam mail from your email address

The Fred or the V address?
Fred
Ok, I’m going to change my password after tea, and see if that fixes it.
But I wonder if someone is spoofing (correct terminology?) my email address as I’m not seeing any suspicious activity on my account.
Ok, changed my password on the yahoo account.
Again we all know its “1Luv8l4d3Runn3r”. Seriously.
Good luck with that.
I’m thinking the Tyrell for Saturday and the zoo for Sunday (or vice versa). Being the Canada Day long weekend, we won’t do Heritage Park until Monday or Tuesday. It’s bound to be stupid crazy on the weekend
Sounds like a plan 🙂
I’m jealous. The Tryell is awesome. 🙂
… but do they make you take a Voight-Kampff test to gain entrance?
I saw what you did there.
No Creationism Museum?
I don’t want to be deported for laughing out loud.
I’ve never been to the one here in Alberta. I would probably be deported too, and I live here
Oh look at that, the sequel yo Hardwired (Walter Jon Williams), The Voice of the Whirlwind is cheap today on Kindle and iBooks.
Temptation I haz it.
I should. But then, I bought the first and should read that first.
Kicked out of the house again. That makes seven viewings since we put it up for sale on Wednesday. I think that’s a good thing
Holy MF’n Shit, GoT!!!!!!!
Helluva fun season. I hate to disrespect George, but I’m kinda glad those two metrosexual guys have taken over and gotten the story back on track.
Wont be able to see it until Tuesday so no spoilers.
Some pieces were a little tough…
…
!!!
Morning Pan. Baking cookies this morning. Not for Van, as they will be all gone by the time he gets here, but more for the people who seem to be tromping through my house on a constant basis.
I’m going for a record. Two weeks in a row.
This is what happens when I add the pan tab back into my browser.
Seems as though everything is going to revert back to GoT today.

“…although leaders of the campaign to exit Europe are crowing over their victory, it seems many Britons may not even know what they had actually voted for. (snip)
At about 1 a.m. Eastern time, about eight hours after the polls closed, Google reported that searches for “what happens if we leave the EU” had more than tripled.”
At least voters in the U.S. make informed, logical, rational decisions. . . .
BwaHAHAHAH!
It’s a beautiful day. I think it’s time for a walk.
Happy BssEee Thirbday!!!

Van hows the job situation this Tuesday?
Good news, another year at least.
It’s apparently also Mel Brooks’s birthday. . . . a guy who taught us that the most politically incorrect jokes can be hilarious, if told with love and no malice.

Crap joke for the day:
Johnny’s teacher paid a visit to his house one day. When little Johnny opened the door, she asked, “Are your father and mother in, Mr. Morton?”
“They was in, but they is out now,” he answered. The teacher gasped, “Why, Mr. Johnny Morton, it is ‘They were in, but they are out now.’ Where’s your grammar?”
“She’s upstairs taking her nap.”

A young fellow was about to be married and was asking his grandfather about sex. He asked how often you should have it. His grandfather told him that when you first get married, you want it all the time, and maybe do it several times a day. His grandfather continued to tell the young fellow that later on, sex tapers off and you have it once a week or so. Then as you get older, you have sex maybe once a month. When you get really old, you are lucky to have it once a year – maybe on your anniversary. The young fellow then asked his grandfather, “Well how about you and Grandma now?” His grandfather replied, “Oh, we just have oral sex now.” “What’s oral sex?” The young fellow asked. “Well,” Grandpa said, “She goes to bed into her bedroom, and I go to into my bedroom. And she yells, ‘Screw You!” And I holler back, “Screw You too’.”
Stryper should update their “To Hell With the Devil” album to be “To Hell With the Dentist.”
Thanks guys! It was a good 45th! Bought a car and flung us further into debt!
I hope you got a proper lesbian car.
No fun you if there is no gear stick..
I came very close to re-upping my Subaru cried, but went with a Nissan this time!!
Congratz!
Proper lesbian car? Isn’t that supposed to be a Subaru Forester? Although another lesbian couple I know like their FJ Cruiser.
Funny. This exact topic has come up at my (very Republican-infested) workplace over the past few weeks as I recently bought a Subaru Forester. I was the second-to-last to know that the Forester and Outback are #2 and #1 on the Top 10 Gay and Lesbian car lists.
It’s the gayest fooking thing I’ve ever driven.
CW: E1 of The Tunnell
This is the third time with this story for me. I must like it!
Then I guess my mom is a lesbian.
I would call this a spoiler other than the fact the guy almost always plays the bad guy.
So as soon as you see him you know he’s the one behind murder.
I should’ve said that any car I buy is a lesbian car. Argh, 45 year old delayed humor!
I like to think of it as having the “Thought Forwarding” feature.

I think I must have dome something wrong with the fudge. I seem to be covered in chocolate.
You are going give JJ a ‘turn’ at this rate.
Too late.
I’m already hearing the “Bow Chicka Bow Bow” music in my head.
Van,I should give you some rules for when you’re here.
1) if kitty flops over in front of you, she is demanding a tummy rub. It is best if you simply give in to her demands
2) if kitty drags a toy over to you, meowing the whole time, this means she wants attention. Again, it’s probably best for all of you give in to her demands
3). Food in the cupboard and fridge is meant to be eaten. You do not need to ask permission to eat it. Just assume permission has been given and help yourself
Unless kitty has written her name on it. Kitty’s reserved foods must never be eaten.
4) if kitty scratches at your bedroom door, it means she is looking for attention. See rules one and two on how best to handle this situation
5) fun is mandatory. If you are not having a good time, let us know and we will rectify the situation
6) Hubby and I get up around 5am. If we start to fade on you by 9pm, don’t take it personally. We’re not bored, just tired (this one is a real one)
Thanks for the clarification
That should have had a smiley at the end.
Or !!
I always find waiting for the online check to activate very nerve wracking…and I don’t care where I sit on the shuttle flight to Heathrow.
It’s the Calgary flight where seating is important.
Well checked in for the shuttle, 4 hours for the Calgary flight checkin.
7) If kitty is sleeping on you, everybody in the house becomes your slave. We will get any food or drink you request, just so you don’t disturb kitty.
I had better start practising my Egyptian..
Or at least learn to walk like one.
Fudge is done and cut into bite sized pieces.
Libations have been purchased. It was cherry liquor you wanted, right Van? 😉
I’m going old school and having a bologna and cheese sandwich for lunch
Me too. I have PB&J and Doritos
So now I’ve got to see how much I can squeeze in a small back pack.

Sigh
Think I’ll put it off till after the checkin.
You could have preshipped 😉
I just don’t want to take the risk of lost luggage.
Nobody likes Air Canada, Van
Ok, Tiffany and Jack, your invitation mentioned a honeymoon fund, can I donate online?
There was a link somewhere where you could donate on line. That’s what I did
Oh and it appears that finally UK Netflix has every Star Trek series for streaming.
Woot!
I guess Brexit does have some advantages.
I could just scream!!!!
Bloody it’s always the bloody second flight that causes problems.
Fuuuuucccccckkkkkkk!
All seats booked up, so I’m stuck in the middle for 8 and half hours.
Fuuuuuucccckkkkkkk!!!!
Bah 🙁 Sorry, Van.
I’m sorry Van. I’ll try to make the visit worth the stupid flight.
Ah well, at least the backpack weighs less than 10kg, so there is that for the trip to Phoenix.
Ok. I can check “get haircut” of my list of things to do before I head to AZ.
Jack? Did you remember to make your Hair appointment? Time is getting short!
Is that why they call me the groom?
That and the fact that “The Streak” was already taken.
Van, resend me your flight info, I seem to have misplaced it. I thought you were arriving at 8:30pm but I show no Air Canada flights arriving from Heathrow at that time
Never Mind
The airport has you flying British Airways, not Air Canada
The Air Canda Flight is the one from Calgary to Phoenix.
Of course, the title of the next article down begins with: “Liberal Media Botches. . .”, so I am going to question the journalistic integrity of this news source.
That’s fair… but there’s actual news sources reporting it too.
We’re getting a bit of hail
That’s just Van’s wrath at the airlines.

Another day another project claiming to make perfect coffee:
https://youtu.be/vOaskQD0ICc
Looks like a variation on the aeropress to to me.

Well Pan,
I’m off to see the Warcraft film.

I mailed the postcard from my home town today.
Was I just suspose to bring it to Phoenix?

Can’t remember which Bond I am up to. “Tomorrow Never Dies” perhaps?
Sadly, tonight was “The World is Not Enough”.
Not a very strong movie and OMG, Denise Richards is a terrible actress.
I’ve actually never seen a Brosnan Bond film.
Two of my Favorite Bond films are Brosnan Bonds.
Brosnan’s James Bond gave us “Die Another Day” which gave us Rosamund Pike. That alone forgives anything else about them.

A question for the Friday night meal, do we have to pay in advance or pay on the night?
Boo. I’ll miss that. Can’t wait to see you Saturday!
I had better warn you I may smell of Maple syrup.

I suppose you could smell like back bacon too?
We’re covering the first portion of it. We haven’t done the math yet, but it’s possible you’ll be fed and watered for little to nothing out-of-pocket.

Morning Pan

Really?
http://kslx.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/AZ-500-list-1-500.pdf
I heard a similar list of songs years back on a KC radio station. They advertised that their number one song wouldn’t be “Stairway”, which ended up being #2. The number one rock song of all time was “Enter Sandman”.
In other words: it could be worse. . . .
“Sweet Emotion” isn’t even a bad song, but #1??

Crap joke for the day;
Noticing this, a policeman stopped her, and said, “Ma’am, there are $20 bills falling out of that bag.”

Interesting news about the label changes, and an interesting diet idea, however difficult it would be to pull off in the real 2016 world.
http://www.livescience.com/55013-no-label-diet.html
Except all Coldplay.

Crap joke for the day:
My gran rang this morning to tell me that my 98 year old grandad had just died. I rushed round to comfort her, and over a cup of tea she told me that he had died during their usual Sunday morning sex session…..
Aghast that they were still at it, she reassured me that they took it nice and gentle, to the rhythm of the church bells. “In on the ding, out on the dong,” she said. “And he’d still be alive if the fucking ice cream van hadn’t come round…”
Now that’s Good Humor.

Hmmmm..

JW: season 4 finale of The Americans
A bit disappointing that it was basically a setup for S5, but it’s been a ‘fun’ ride this season.
I thought it worked well not pushing the typical “dun dun DUNNNN!” cliff hanger. They’ve been confirmed for two more seasons, so they don’t really need to rely on such tricks at this point.
I enjoyed the season and thought it made for some solid and compelling story telling. Though, the body count (at least in getting rid of characters one way or another) was extremely high.

Considering the current high exchange rate pound/Canadian dollar, might be better to just get all Canadian dollars and then convert the unused dollars to US (since that is almost one to one).
Hmmmmm.
Hey Van, not sure where you got your information but, the exchange rate from Canadian to US funds is 30%, not par. I sped $200 US the other day and it cost me $260.

Been away for a while and I missed this. Congratulations Lo Pan! Should the world be concerned that Lo Pan has another henchman in his army? But sincerely, great news man!
I’ve been away as well. Just catching up.

Comment of the day from The Onion:
“Yes because what definitely would have prevented this tragedy is mostly drunk people with guns returning fire in a dimly lit nightclub. I can’t see that going wrong at all.”
Hmmm:

I’m a little nostalgic now. I wonder where the author lives in NJ. Diners are a different kind of thing there than the rest of the U.S. They’re really state institutions; my first breakfast when I went back last year was at a diner.
The food is never very good, it’s downright awful at a bad one, but they’re often social destinations, more than culinary experiences. I can’t tell you how many late evenings in the 90s I spent with friends over bland fries and club sandwiches at those places.

My work computer’s anti virus software is reporting some trojan virus on the Deadpan site. Not sure if that is causing issues for others.
I had a warning today too.
I’m posting this on my desktop PC running the 64 bit version of Chrome and I’m not getting an error.
No error when using MS Edge browser.
I’ve not had a problem on my phone, but the site won’t pass my work filters. I’ve run an anti-virus just in case and nothing came up
I just did a scan with Windows Defender, it did pick up a trojan, whether that was from here or somewhere else I don’t know.
Yet the scan on the laptop detected nothing and I access the website far more often on the laptop than the desktop.
Each time I visit this page, I get the Trojan notification. This has happened 3 times. Microsoft reports it as this:
https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/threat/encyclopedia/entry.aspx?name=Trojan%3aJS%2fRedirector.QE&threatid=2147711332&enterprise=0
To watch later:
http://www.avclub.com/article/watch-elliott-smith-1994-devo-tribute-band-238216
“I’ll kiss it’s butt and let it go”
http://www.sooski.ca/
So I’m listening to the audio book version of ‘A Canticle for Leibowitz’.
I remembered more of the book’d plot than I thought I would.
The narration brought out humour that I completely failed to recognise when I first read the book in the 90’s.
It’s still a rather serious book…

Still looking for the solution to the stupid problem. I appreciate you hanging in there.
If you kneel before your god in prayer
But do not cry for those who died;
If you raise your voice in hymns of praise
But cast the plight of others aside;
Then I call you false, your religion lies
To you, and tempts with ephemeral prize.
If you say the words from mouth not heart
And close your ears to pain;
If you play along, but not your part
Then you’re a traitor to the game;
For all faiths preach of hope and love
And of kindness done for a god above.
It matters not what faith you claim
The central core is just the same.

Crap joke for the day:

I hope Father’s Day was a good one for all the Deadpan dads and folks paying tribute to their dads.
We had a great, busy weekend around here with the kids: Technorama Pool Party, Aliens on the big screen at a local theater, a Sunday at an old school retro arcade, and fancy burgers for dinner.

I must admit Other than a short story I haven’t read any Zelazny:
http://www.tor.com/2016/06/20/another-few-words-from-roger-zelazny-influences-and-inspirations/
But you should see the other guy. . .
..and it’s goodbye to Penny Dreadful:
http://on.io9.com/EdlTkCt
Awww. I kind of liked the show
I am disappointed.

Crap joke for the day:
As the crowded elevator descended, Mrs. Simpson became too furious with her husband, who was delighted to be pressed against a gorgeous blonde. As the elevator stopped at the main floor, the blonde suddenly whirled, slapped Mr. Simpson, and said, “That will teach you to pinch!” Bewildered, Mr. Simpson was halfway to the parking lot with his wife when he choked, “I…I…didn’t pinch that girl.” “Of course you didn’t” said his wife, consolingly. “I did.”
Ouch, ditto!

Also, any particular size you’d prefer the photos? I have 18 (including the “bad” one) you can have.
Thanks, Bunny! Feel free to share any and all with Tiff and me – – but yeah, middle finger pics don’t necessarily belong in wedding slideshows. 🙂

So I’m watching the new season of OITNB and finally realise I just don’t give a flying fuck about Piper. In fact reading hearing spoilers about the season finale I’m bloody disappointed it didn’t happen to her.
Still enjoying the series for the other characters.
I guess the free Ticketmaster vouchers I got loaded up with are really just a big fat disappointing lame headache of a solution.

55 Gallon Drum!!!
Back yard carnival of death made me laugh.

So, I need this wine. I could order online, but any of you Colorado residents seen this in the stores?
It’s in pet stores so I suppose only if you have pets … http://www.apollopeak.com/
I need to order this.
Wine that’s sold only in pet stores. . . .
I’ll take a bottle of salmon-flavored pinot.
If they don’t have that, I’ll settle for a can of flaked chicken with gravy blanc, vintage 1991.

Loved the show in its early days, but it (i.e., Piper) kind of lost me last season. I do like that girl and her character, though. Even more, now that I know she has her own deathcore band.
She is drop-dead gorgeous.
She certainly is..

I could not be less interested in ID2.
Finding Dory was fun and adorbs!!
Not as good as the first, but that’s a really high bar to reach. Still definitely worthy of the Pixar name.
The opening animated short also goes overboard on cuteness, as well as technical wizardry.

Crap joke for a lazy Sunday:

Johnny’s teacher paid a visit to his house one day. When little Johnny opened the door, she asked, “Are your father and mother in, Mr. Morton?”

Crap joke for the day:

This is the third time with this story for me. I must like it!
Then I guess my mom is a lesbian.
I would call this a spoiler other than the fact the guy almost always plays the bad guy.
So as soon as you see him you know he’s the one behind murder.
