Let’s see if you see this…..
I see it! and I see that we are a redirect to Mr. Mast’s site.
Now we can spawn…
You know, I don’t think I have ever seen Tony and Jack together in the same place. Have they really just been one guy living two lives this whole time?
Hopefully with less slime.
New comments aren’t showing on on the right panel.
That was your bleeding obvious statement for the day.
The existence of comments is indicated on the left panel, but the comments themselves are nowhere to be found.
I can see clearly now…
They have made a US version of the UK comedy show called the Inbetweeners….I’m scared to hit the download button…
So does this mean we’ve left the matrix?
I see you…
All is working here! I can see this post, but not the Final FPM Post.
I confirm the absence of the Recent Comments feature from its rightful place in the right sidebar.
I also see the domain redirect to tonymast.com/jmdp. Hmmm…. *gets plot bunnies for new stories*
It’s all… Deadpany.
This is all so very Sci-fi.
A patient (grown adult) goes to an ER.
ER nurse does assessment. ER nurse manages to find cash hidden inside the rectum of said patient.
ER nurse #2. “How did you know the cash was there?”
ER nurse #1. “The patient’s Mommy told me, ‘That’s where the drugs are normally hidden.’
ER nurse #2. ” How much money was it? Was it bills? Were there coins?”
ER nurse #1. “I DIDNT COUNT IT!”
wait for it….
ER nurse #2 ” Awww C’mon! Ever since the 80’s, I’ve always wanted to know how much a buttload of cash was!”

No offense to anyone, but typing “TonyMast.com” to get to “JackMangan.com” seems dirty
He is the back door producer, after all.
What’s that? Backseat? Oh, never mind….
Mwah ha ha ha ha
My feet were cold so I actually put socks on for the first time in a month. It’s about time.
All your JackMangan are belong to us.
You’ll be writing Epson printer manuals next..
Wasn’t too impressed with the pilot of ‘Copper’ that BBC America are showing, hopefully it will get better.
Nor were we, Van.
Success! One step closer to my ultimate goal of someday becoming Tony Mast. . .
Less yoga, more hot wings and bourbon.
About to get my Nebraska driver’s license, finally. Yay!
I see our custom emoticon set hasn’t been installed on the new server yet. 🙁
All your :jack: are belong to us.
For your listening pleasure.
Man…. year after year, Kings X doesn’t disappoint do they?
Hmmm… I wonder what this button does?
Oh, I see it.
I see it real good.
Sorry that’s PUSH it real good.
Listening to the 50 Shades of Grey audiobook. People may have told you it was bad… but you have no idea. It hurts.
Yeah, if I want smut, there are much better authors to turn to. 🙂

Talking of crap jokes:
I was sat on the toilet the other night, straining really hard, with all my might when suddenly, there was a loud POP and everything when dark.
“Honey are you OK!?” Called my Girlfriend from the other room. “There’s been a powercut!”
“Thank God for that!” I shouted back. “I thought my fucking eyeballs had burst!”
I’m here, but would rather be posting from bed
Can we all join you in that bed?
Yes! The more the merrier.
there, I went in and bought the Hugo Nominees on my ipad. Usually I have these read long before the awards but I seem to be a bit behind this year. *sigh*
I just haven’t been reading as much as usual lately. I better get my act together.
CP: Wolf’s Law — The Joy Formidable
New stuff from the band. Maybe a tad generic, but I still like it.
…and now I just bought one book from each of the guests for WWC 2013. Boy do I have a lot of reading to do now.
Brunch with my Boo was yummy
All right, we’re masked! I hope I didn’t break it….
If you want to find out what’s behind these cold eyes,
You’ll just have to claw your way through this disguise.
Seems to be working ok.
We’re masked? Did I miss something?

Just … wow.
Despite Fact Checks, Romney Escalates Welfare Work Requirement Charge.
“The fact-checking website PolitiFact says Romney’s claims are “pants on fire” bogus.
The Washington Post’s fact checker awarded four Pinocchios, its highest rating.
And Annenberg Public Policy Center’s FactCheck.org reached the same conclusion, that the claims are false.”

I haven’t read much expanded universe fiction, but I thought I should at least get up to date on what happened after “Return of the Jedi.” The “Thrawn Trilogy” is in the mail.
Ah yes, I wanted Thrawn to win….
Yeah, the Heir to the Empire books are goddamn great. Theyre widely recognized as the films that would have been made if Lucas would have made the “final 3” films. They read like it. Tim Zahn did an amazing job with them ESPECIALLY since they were written in a time where only a select niche gave a shit about Star Wars. Member that time?
Yeah, that’s exactly why I wanted to read them. 🙂
They were quite good. There was another trilogy at that time that was also good, but I can’t remember it right now. I haven’t read many SW “sequels” other than those.
Strange behaviour. When I refresh the show page, it takes me back to the deadpan home page.

That’s a little … odd.

Still have my parallel port zip drive…I just don’t have a working computer with a parallel port (centronics):
Do I lose geek points for having a USB Zip drive?
It depends … does it work?
If it does … I’m sending all my Zip drives to you to have you burn their data to CD for me and in THAT case you score +15000 !
/looks at the pile of zip disks.
I’m withh JJ on this one …
Same here, all of my Zip drives when belly up years ago. This week I did purchase a 16GB flash drive with Linux Mint on it for $20. Now I can boot any computer in the house to Linux when I feel like it without putting the hard drives in jeopardy.
Looks like a business opportunity there Ralph!
Maybe you could just rent the drive out?
Do I get 0 geek points for not knowing what a zip drive is?
Actually, knowing what a Zip drive wouldn’t award you any geek points. However, knowing what the “Click of Death” is, is worth 100 geek points.
I know neither.

That’s twice this week the weatherman said we had rain overnight in Calgary and my end of town didn’t seem to get any of it.

Yeah, when I hit refresh on my computer it takes me back to the JMDP home page so I have to reclick on the episode too.

Sweet. The sequel to “A Soldier’s Duty” is out. 🙂
Weird. I didn’t know Anderson wrote a tie-in novel for Rush’s new album. I might have to give it a try.

Well, my bathroom is now nice and clean. Why the hell I thought glass shower doors in a city with such hard water was a good idea is beyond me.
My socks are wet, I must put on a new pair.
I suppose you could put on a cling film and dispose of that when it gets too dirty.
Actually, I found a process that isn’t too bad. I clean the doors with a Mr. Clean magic eraser for bathrooms. That gets most of the scum off. then I rinse it with water and then take a squeegee to the works. It seems to get about most of it off.
time to buy cat food
Been on the roof.
Went up to try and spray sealer on one leaky spot and I found clogged gutters and a 1/4″ HOLE in one of my rubber, vent boots.
That reminds me, we have a drippy corner in one of our eaves troughs. I guess I should go up there with some sealer before the summer ends.
Yeh. That’s what got me started on all of this.
My program of careful neglect towards the roofular aspects of my house has progressed predictably.
We don’t need no sealant, let the motherfucker leak. Drip, motherfucker, drip.
No, not quite as catchy.
Ok, I’ve decided that the page going back to the JMDP home page every time I hit refresh is a little bit botherson. Who do I send my complaint to? 😉
As a data point (in case anyone is looking into the anomaly, I do NOT get sent back to the home page when I refresh.
Using a MacBook Pro, OS10.7.4 and Firefox 14.0.1
In Chrome, on my PC I do get sent back to the homepage, but in Firefox on my phone I don’t. *shrug*
In Soviet Russia, Chrome refreshes you.
some of these are just creepy
these are just cool
My socks are wet for the second time today. It’s raining. I didn’t know this until I ran out in my socks to catch the guys who cut our lawn and give them heck for not doing the back yard the for the last couple of weeks. Now my feet are cold. Where’s my warm hubby when I need him.
Hey Pixie! If you want to keep Jack in line, threaten to put cold feet on his back while in a warm bed. :ermm:
That’s not even funny.
So hey, do we have a controversy with this whole page refresh thing? Awesome!
I will look into the WordPress settings, although I’m a bit troubled that it’s only happening in certain browsers. Has anyone checked IE?…….
I use chrome. It does seem to work with atomic web on my Ipad though
Now there is a grey bar running along the bottom of the webpage in chrome(doesn’t affect other tabs just the tabbviewing deadpan website).
I just checked it out in Safari 5.1.6 and as they say … Safari so good.
I dialed in with AOL and tried it on Netscape. I just get some text in the middle of the screen that says “try again some time after the year 2000”
That V23 standard was always a bit dodgy.
Did you hop on Prodigy by chance?
threaten? or *do*?
That was under windows 7.
On my other netbook running Ubuntu, the refresh problem remains in Chromonium, but the grey bar has gone.
…and the refresh problem is still there on Firefox on the Ubuntu machine.
Did you just blow out Clint Eastwood?
I thought he was already blown out.
Happy Friday Night, Deadpan!
make it count
I’m on track to let you down on this one. 🙁
Phone at 2%…. phone death imminent… I loved you all…..
I’d like to get some recommendations for essential ipad apps.
Darkhorse comics are ok but sometimes they eat your money without you getting the product. Hubby buys from them, I just download their freebies
10000000 is a cool little dungeon runner but it is $2
Perry is fun but it also has a charge
Hubby has Netflix on his but I don’t.
I’m sure I can go on but my book awaits
CR: Embassytown – China Meiville
Depends on what what your idea of essential means.
But I would add CineXplayet for playing AVIs
Air Video if you want to stream video from your computers to the iPad.
Sound hound and Shazam
Xbox remote (if you connect your computer to the tv and run XBMC)
XBMC not xbox
Tilt to Live
Yeah, personally I prefer playing that on the iPhone.
Starwalk (astronomy app)
You know, while, for the most part, I enjoy China Meiville’s work, I think I would enjoy it more if he stopped making up words
I’m posting from a Mac…. I feel like I’m driving on the wrong side of the road here.
After reading Kraken, I fear that China Mieville is turning into Neil Gaiman. Not that I dislike Gaiman…. I just really liked the guy who wrote The Scar.
CD: Orange blossom tea.

On a gaming note, I’m enjoying LA Noir but I suck at reading people’s face to decide if they are lying or not
Also thinking of getting Assassin’s Creen Revelations just so my lore is complete before the new one comes out

Crap joke for the day:
Me and my pigeon chested wife went to see a marriage counsellor today.
The counsellor asked us; “What seems to be the problem?”
“Well,” I said, “Dolly Parton here thinks I’m too sarcastic.”
93 year old goes to doc and says “Doctor, I need you to lower my sex drive.” So the doc says “But you’re 93, at your age it’s all in the mind!” The old guy replies ” I know that, that’s why I want you to lower it!!”
Hangs Van’s coat back on the peg.
That was for the first joke … for the second, *gets coat of the peg and holds it out*
From 50 Sheds of Grey on twitter:
@50ShedsofGrey: ‘That was amazing,’ she sighed, ‘Did the earth move for you too?’ ‘Yes,’ I replied, ‘Don’t worry, it’s just natural subsidence.’
I’m hating Amazon at the moment. They keep having sales on the kindle store for a book I would like to read..but US only.
Who would have thunk it:
It’s too bad men don’t have those kind of requirements too. Work would be so much better for all of us 😉
Neil Armstrong has died:
Some numpty on Facebook claims the truth about the fake landings has died with him.
oooh, that’s sad
OMG! 🙁 We’ve lost one of the great ones.
Dammit. Time passes by much too quickly
http://www.NeilArmstrongInfo.com is set up to offer info about his life and legacy.
The Borderlands 2 trailer on the XBox is cool. Too bad it’s first person.
In case Jack doesn’t see this on Facebook…
A bit too close to home this one (geographically that is):
What I’d like to see is a headline that indicates literary groups are joining the mass burning based on how poorly written the book is and BDSM groups are joining in based on how “wrongly” it portrays their community.
Hard to remember the last time so much public attention has been given to a book that was so undeserving of it.
Hmmmm, I’m sticking to my safety razor:
Feed your inner Mozart:
sad to hear of the loss of Neil Armstrong; but I’m guessing he lived a very happy, fulfilled life.
Will be missed. Makes me love my own family and friends that much more today.
I promise not to devolve into politics any further today. . . . but, on two occasions now in recent memory, the “press” – – with/without the corroboration of certain elected officials – – have exposed the secret identities of American service operatives. How is this ok??
The people who cry treason over imagined 0.2% tax increases should be pooping in their colonial U.S. cosplay garb are strangely silent on this issue.

3 degrees too close if you ask me
to the tune of “When will I see you again?”
Sweetie, you had me at “to”
Just listened to the lat BSBO. Thanks for pimping (and saving) the show, Tony Mast.
Thanks for listening! Yeah, the Deadpan needed crash space and I’ve got a bit of extra room.
Jack and the rest of you jokers are good people and I’m still paying penance for that whole Doodle of the Fates thing back in Wingin’ It #69. 😉
Tis Sunday, crap joke follows:
“I was visiting my son and daughter-in-law last night
when I asked if I could borrow a newspaper.
“This is the 21st century, old man” he said.
“We don’t waste money on newspapers.
Here, you can borrow my iPad.”
I can tell you, that bloody fly never knew what hit it…
And that, friends, is all the iPad is good for
Actually not too bad, Van!
Who are you?
What have you done with Van?
Cj’s Indiana Jones comment is NOT spam.
Its National Dog Day. It makes me very sad.
Give your wet noses some extra love today and take them out for a fun play date!
Incredible ballpoint pen art.
Heads up. I may or may not be on the boars tomorrow. My mom has been rushed into the hospital with a blood clot in her lung. Basically I’m to sit by the phone for the next 12 hours or so. If she pulls through, great but, if things go down hill, I might be flying out to BC tomorrow.
I know I talk a lot of smack about my mom but… She is still my mom.
Best wishes for you and your mom, Bunny. No matter how long you’re offline, we’ve all got your back.
Totally understand. Best wishes.
Thinking of you. Sending loving thoughts.
Happy thoughts to your Mom for a speedy recovery. She knows you are there for her & trust she is in good hands.
Please email me if you have any (medical) questions or need anything at all!
Positive thoughts your way.
Pixie, I did do a bit of research. I know that with something like this prognosis is usually to the good but my mom does not take care of herself and is generally unhealthy. They are giving her a 50/50 chance. Hence, waiting by the phone.
Good Luck! and other positive thought.
Fingers crossed your Mum pulls through.
Bunny: You and your mom are in my thoughts and prayers.
Zod would kneel.
Wee doggie, I’ve been negligent in checking in lately.
We’re entering into the full panic timeframe getting ready to host fifty people at our house next weekend for a family reunion.
Hopefully, our pool will be repaired in time…
Was wondering where you had gone off to.
You in need of any rain? I think some may be headed your way by next weekend.
If you had to empty your pool to repair it, I’d be more worried about it being the right temperature in time. It took weeks for our pool to heat up after refilling it. If you didn’t cheap out like me and you have a heater, you’ll probably be fine.
I’ve completely lost touch with Matt, but it’s good to see he’s still at it.
I really dug Brave Men Run… so much that I bought the book as it was being podcast because I didn’t want to wait for the end.
I backed this. Looking forward to see what’s next in the story.
So, I’m watching the end of HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN now.
I REALLY, HONESTLY have no words…
So I guess I had that one.
My daughter and I watched that movie (don’t worry, she’s old enough). Sick and thoroughly fun. Probably make a good payoff for the next round of hockey playoffs.
Agreed. It would be a great hockey playoff movie.
Watched Hobo With a Shot Gun. Did not like it.
Another behind-the-scenes change made…. fingers crossed! Rutger Hauer can’t be a good omen.
Interpolation is the motherfucking way:
As I watch this I think how cool it would be to have a spoof video of a martian standing on the surface who sees the heat shield detach and slowly watches it fall in the distance saying “what the hell is that?” as Curiosity squashes him. I think the real reason I think this would be so funny is because watching one thing fall from the sky while another clearly (and completely missed by me) falls right on top of me, is EXACTLY the kind of thing I would do.
Still here, still waiting.
I feel like Tom Petty
Once it’s not 5am in BC I’ll probably call my uncle, who is out there, and get a status update
Ok. I may or may not do movie play by plays in the future. Whenever I hit refresh in bot Safari or Atomic web. On my iPad it brings me tho the home pages so I have to click and scroll down. Whenever I post a comment in atomic web it brings me to the top of the page so I have to scroll all the way down to post again. Safari doesn’t make me scroll every time I post but it does delay a few seconds before it lets me type. Lots can happen in a movie whole you’re screwing around with the web.
It could also be, I’m just a little grumpy this morning and have no patience for anything. Lack of sleep will do that
Bunny, don’t give up on the movie replays just yet. Jack and I are fiddling with bits behind the curtain over here. Once we are done and emerge with smiles on our faces, we’ll wipe off our chins… err hands… and all should (hopefully) be as it once was.
Thanks for your patience.
Honestly Tony, I think a lot of what I’m saying (and probably going to say), is due to nerves and lack of sleep. I wasn’t really going to give up on the PBP, just for the time being anyway.
At the cinema, finally getting to see Brave.
It’s not one of the better Pixar films, but it is still good.
I can’t disagree, but fun it was.
Did you spot the pizza truck? 🙂
Alas no, I was too distracted by the hair..
I spoke with my uncle. They are pretty sure they got mom to the hospital and got it diagnosed quick enough that she’s going to be ok. They are keeping her in the hospital under observation for a couple of days to make sure. I asked if I should come out and was told probably not. She’s been getting lots of visitors and they don’t want to tire her out too much. They are seeing mom again later today and will call with an update then. That being said, I may go out anyway once she’s released to help out and make sure she gets bed rest.
That’s good news, all things considered! 🙂
Well wishes for your mother, Bunny.
Sweet. New Adebisi Shank album.

I learned a new phrase today http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulmonary_Embolism
Apparently I’m going to be able to actually talk to my mom sometime between noon and 2pm (my time) today.
Crap. That’s pretty serious. I hope things improve for you and your mom.
Oh shit, does it work?!
Will it blend?
I saw your site rather than the deapan page at one point.
If you see that again, and know what happened just before that, let me know.
I think that this (mostly) works, but I want to make sure we shake out any bugs.
I actually had that happen as well at around 10:12am Deadpan time.
I refreshed my browser and got your site. Then I tried the “back” button and your site kept coming up. I entered jackmangan.com by hand into the browser and was returned to my regularly scheduled Deadpan.
Thanks Joe, I wonder if there weren’t a few artifacts hanging around out there. Browsers are such finicky mistresses.
Well, my bookmark to the comments feed was broken. But I just went back to Jack’s site and got the new url.
Ditto, what had you bookmarked to? That could be something that I might be able to tweak to bring the old feed link back. We had to take a lot of settings from scratch to make them work. Thanks.
As I recall, it was tonymast.com/jmdp/comments/feed. After the switch, it defaulted to your comments feed.
BTW: We appreciate the effort Tony!
Agreed. Thanks for giving The Deadpan a new home.
My pleasure… feel free to trash the place, Jack’s responsible for cleaning it up. 😉
Yes, I will sprinkle the green sawdust if you puke.
I’m in Jack’s to-do list. Fillin’ it up.
For the third day in a row Muppets songs have invaded my head.
That is all 😛
So it looks like the changes that were made today are still propagating through the intarwebz. From work I saw the changes earlier today. When I got home the site still looked borked until just a few minutes ago.
Slowly but surely, we’re getting the Deadpan back to it’s former glory.
Grosse Pointe Deadpan ?
Yep. I smell worse tonight than I did after the first one.
Gross Pointe (Jack Mangan) Deadpan?
