We’re going to need a bigger podcast.
You named the shark “Bruce”?
Well he is Australian after all.
SOA is staying on our DVR!!!
if we had one.
No trip to Ireland or a fucked up faced FBI Agent will keep me from getting my heart stabbed over and over and over…
The past two weeks of having both Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy to watch has given me pretty much constant TV wood. Love SOA. I was in Spencers looking for gear for Sausagefest and found that they have a bunch of SOA merch. I was this close to picking up a SAMCRO hat… and flask.
Sons Of Anarchy
This shall be a day.

RIPD was so so.
Im not sure that even hit the theaters here for more than a week…
Yesterday I bottled 5 gallons of Hefeweizen and 5 Gallons of Barley wine.

I’m putting pub crawl on my list, should get started on that one in about an hour.
OH! Oh! Oh! Can I put that on my list too?
Sounds good to me!
Among my work colleagues it appears I ‘m the only iPhone user, android and dumb phones rule supreme.
It will surprise no one that it is another hubbiless evening for the Bunny tonight.
Enjoying the ep so far. I’ll have to listen to the rest later. Instead, I have to work on a presentation. I hate PowerPoint.
Oo! Make the words on the next slide fly in from the left!
Oi! Oi! Cuz I’m TNT. 🙂
This is cool. Make sure you check out all 10.
Are you guys and gals gonna watch Agents of SHIELD tonight?
Hubby’s not home tonight so we’re recoding it and will watch it tomorrow
If there’s a web option, then maybe. I’m pretty sure my viewing buddy is interested.
There’s always a web option, Jack. We’re gonna tune in live, I think, via good ole aerial antenna.
I’ll be getting it by other means.
Agents of SHIELD I mean.
“getting it by other means”
Today is National Punctuation Day in the US.
Are you excited?
So don’t be late!
At least Van is getting it!
I think it’s also “Banned Book Week”.
A perfect time for you to read ‘Slaughterhouse 5’
Can I say, ” I got Whedon wood?”
Buffy says No!
I have to agree with one reviewer in wondering how they are going to pad this one out to 15 episodes.
Julie watched it this morning and had to tell me to shut up because I kept pointing out how terribly forced EVERYTHING was. The whole thing made so little sense. I think when she really told me to just go away was when I questioned the ending shot when she looked into the camera and said that she doesn’t give up… she looked right at the camera… the ONE camera out of like a dozen of them that were on her and told THAT ONE CAMERA the thing that the kidnappers needed to here. Man, it’s a good thing they were watching that particular channel.
Alas having getting up at 5am Wednesday means I had to cut the pub crawl short.
The gammon steak was nice though.

Not all of these were my 80s, but some are totally fresh.
You know the refrigerator box is your 80s!
I need to work harder, I’ve only seen 17 of these.
Maybe a link would help
3, and I would argue that Runaway is not a B movie, it’s a rather good scifi thriller.
17, and I agree, Van. Runaway is pretty decent. And really, any movie that stars Selleck’s ‘stache is worth its weight in gold.
Wait… I was wrong… 19
Left Hand Brewing has some pretty cool swag for flood relief donations if y’all are interested. We have more beer glasses than one could shake a stick at, but I still may get a few of these.

Sometimes Japan really baffles me. Ok, not just sometimes, it’s a lot of times.
Ok, you’ll have to rewind that since I accidentally included the time offset.
I don’t know who extremis is. 🙁
I did just finish watching it though.
I added it to my DVR season pass. Mostly because it’s Joss.
It was okay and even made me LOL once or twice but it seemed really “network”.
Still … it’s Joss and I expect it will get smarter/better.
Did I cum? I…i cant tell
Yes, it is Banned Books Week. We even made it the theme of our Toastmasters meeting today, at which I spoke about the Ghost Light Podcast and introduced my speech by playing Hamlet (badly) for about 30 seconds. :silly:
Replying to another comment above:
Well, shoot. First time I’ve tried to tune in to a new network TV show in ages. I forgot that since I moved, the “7 Central” caveat now applies to me. I only caught the last 10 minutes of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” So, I missed the introductions of the rest of the team, and that was Extremis I saw in action. Are both of these points correct?
…err. Sorry. was posting from my TARDIS again.
See comment above.
Pretty damn awesome first episode. Everything I wanted and expected in a Marvel series. Looking forward to it getting extremely wonderful before the network pulls the plug on it after 12 episodes.
Thanks, Lo. Glad to hear the good reviews from my fellow Panites. 🙂
*sigh* Yeah, I know how TV is. I will make a point of keeping up with this one while I can.
Well, the from Texas household has so far put “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” on our “Things that do not suck” list.
And, because I love you guys most, I bothered to put all the periods in the title. Not so much for the other Facebook peeps.
And, if someone had made it to the Mmmmeetup a few months ago, they’d know what Extremis is 🙂
Hmm, I also only managed 11 of the 50 “80’s b movies I’ve never heard of” list.
J0e: Extremis is actually a virus that gives you heat-related superpowers and makes your skin glow when they are in use. It was the latter effect that I saw on screen, and that I was asking about. (The virus was a driving force of the plot of Iron Man 3, which we all saw as a group at the last MMMMMeetup. 🙂 )
Didn’t they sing “More Than Words”?
Ill get you Nuno’s coat
And with that comment, Jack wins a free copy of Van Halen 3.
I apparently have seen just 3 of the b movies, but I shenanigans. The list needs to add the following :
Night of the Comet
The Pirate Movie
I’ve seen 2 of those.
Me too 2
Lemme guess which one you have not seen —
Christopher Atkins in The Pirate Movie!
Your goosebumps have grown.
Got it one DP, never even heard of that actor.
I’ve seen all three of those, and They Live and Night of the Comet were to high up on the HBO/Cinemax/Showtime heavy rotation list in the 80s to make a list this… whatever it is.
Spoilers galore, but a perfect cap to the shitstorm that was Dexter.
I’m still reeling from the awfulness.
But why did we watch the WHOLE THING??
We had to. We…had to.
I slept in. It was nice. Now, it’s shower time.
I need a favour from all my tabletop gamers.
Whether we want to admit it or not, Christmas is coming. Could you do me a favour and set up something like this (http://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/Gedrak00713) so I know what NOT to give if I become your Secret Santa? You don’t need to use Board Game Geek like we did, but a list of some kind, even just emailed to me, would be great. I’d hate to give something you may already have
Well if you get me you don’t need a list. :-p
Here’s mine (too lazy to set up account):
Ok, so pretty much anything to you, then 😉
In keeping with EssBee’s lazy listing:
Harry Potter Clue
Rat-a-tat Cat (it’s fun!)
(Although I should set up a boardgamegeek account. The kids would probably enjoy doing that.)
This is quite neat

8 out of 10:
You mean, 8 out of 10 have been said to you? Or you agree with 8 out of 10?
8 out of 10 have been said to me. I agree all 10 should not be asked!
Wow. Not only are those stupid questions, they are, if you’ll pardon the pun, dickish.
I thought she was talking about Whiskers..oh wait.
I can add to that list, I’ve heard some pretty stupid things said to my gay friends.
To be fair, I’ve said some pretty gay things to my stupid friends.

Today’s trivia –
TMBG’s first video (for their song “Anna Ng”) was directed by Adam Bernstein.
He went on to directed things like “30 Rock”, “Californication”, “OZ”, “Ed”, “Scrubs”, “Rescue Me” and a little show called “Breaking Bad”.

Pixie knows what I’m talking about 😉
I doubt if Galactus ever had a herald named “Pixie”.
I had trouble believing some of these were real so I looked a bunch of them up in Amazon. They’re real
Ah the Big colouring book of Vaginas, I wonder if Lo has a copy.

I might have to break out the crayons.

o this one then?
I jumped to item two on my list. Now I’m headed for item one.
Ok, I have a hundred or so cookies to bake.
I only have enough butter for about 40 cookies. Off to get some butter… and maybe some chocolate. I wonder if I should make fudge too?
NOW THAT I’M A GHOST, I’M GAY!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!
You lucky duck.
Ok I’m back. Now, where’s my wooden spoon?

Last batch of cookies in the oven. Then it will be time to make fudge.
I’ll own up to being the TV crank, but I was pretty unimpressed with SHIELD. Colson had a few good lines, but otherwise, that first episode was a big meh.
I know I’m the minority.
I liked it okay. I feel like there isn’t any chemistry between the cast yet, but once the actors get to know each other better I think it will improve. Another nitpick, a little overuse of comic book tropes. “This is my origin story” felt a little forced.
I agree with Rhettro, I had bet go lie down…
I recall having the same “it’s just OK” feeling about “Doll House”. By Ep #4 or #5 though, that one really caught fire. “Buffy” also took a few Eps to really get rolling as well. I’m hoping that there is an underlaying, Whedon evil plan here. Start of by getting the standard TV audience hooked and then bring with the smart and clever, Joss-ee-goodness.
I will spare you all my grumpy analysis. Enjoy it without my complaints in your ear. I’m sure Pixie and I will continue watching, so I’ll see the improvement, if it ever comes.
Along those lines, I’ve introduced the kids to the new Dr. Who and they’re hooked. While I’m delighted that they’ve taken interest in the Doctor – – pro-science, he uses his intelligence, most regenerations of him abhor guns – – it’s tough watching that ridiculous Christopher Eccleston season. Good gawd. Between the skin woman and the farting aliens. . .
OK, cookies are done and fudge is in the fridge setting. Now to clean up my kitchen a bit before I head out.
CP: Sacrilege — Yeah Yeah Yeahs
I guess I will share this.
This brings back haunting memories as I had a similar encounter when I was 18.
I have no idea if he was a serial killer.
He was in the military, maybe in his mid-20’s. Given how clearly “under-aged” I looked, he was most certainly a predator.
I . was . so . naive.
I had absolutely no idea what he was about or why he palled up to me until he skillfully turned the conversation into asking me if I had ever been with another guy.
Then I had one of these dizzying “camera dollies back while zooming in” moments.
We were literally alone in a cabin in a freak’n jungle and the reality of what was going on and the position I was in washed over me.
Like the psyco in that article he was VERY persistent and tried to be persuasive with very “rational” sounding arguments. I suspect this is the same sort of pressure that young girls go through all the time when singled out by “alpha male” types. Fortunately, in the end, he respected my lack of interest and finally left.
I had the shakes for the rest of that day.
This quote –
“I was astonished that a gay dude had lured me to a motel room, made advances, and here I was, feeling bad for him because I was rejecting him.”
Okay, so I wasn’t lured to his place he came to mine … but I had the SAME reaction. I ended up apologizing profusely to him. I ended up feeling like I was a bad guy.
How any of us survive the decisions of our youth is simply amazing.
Wow, J0e. Thanks for sharing that. I’m glad that memory isn’t way worse for you.
“I suspect this is the same sort of pressure that young girls go through all the time when singled out by “alpha male” types.”
I think we have to instill kids with the self-confidence needed to withstand that kind of pressure and guilting, along with the savviness to distinguish genuine friends from predators and users – – without turning them into paranoid cynics.
Dear Mr Abrams:
“Dear Mr. Abrams. Let me tell you how to do your job for you to a franchise, that you’ve said yourself, you love so much and will do right by.”
Also, every SW film has had its “cute” element. I’ve never gotten the big deal.
I feel like episodes IV and V had their cute elements, but were essentially films made for adults that kids could enjoy. Starting with Episode VI I felt more like the movies were being structured around the cute elements such that they were films created for kids that adults could enjoy. I seriously doubt Disney will rectify that in any way shape or form, but I’m hoping that Abrams will be able to put some of the dark edge back in.
I dunno, like everyone else I have faith from the Marvel movies. Theyre as much Disney as the SW films will be
The video is nicely made, but I’d agree that they mostly missed the point. All of those things matter less than having relatable, believable characters that I care about in scenes that have me on the edge of my seat.
Frontier, grit, pah; a Jedi craves not these things.
I think I’m jinxed when it comes to external batteries.
Bought an Anker Battery from Amazon, arrived yesterday, won’t charge fully.
Sigh (in a very trivial way)

What a poseur!
I joke of course.
This thing is beautiful.
Of course … no Thunderbirds so Van might not be so keen …
No Liberator (B7), No Eagle (Space 1999), No Thunderbirds, Come on!!!
That is freakin’ cool.
I agree. I need to find the root of that so I can see if it’s a poster I can order.
There’s a kotaku article about it; there may be more info there.
Wow. He’s still updating that? I have a version from 2003, I think. It may have been one of his first.
These graphs are awesome. 🙂
Just got this note from a guy who was doing a remodel for us before the flood hit. His house is in Jamestown, one of the places West of Boulder hardest hit:
So far so good. Only problem is that the road is gone both above and below our property. So my tools, trucks, and tractor are stuck until the road is repaired.
Me and pet cat, along with 25 neighbors (plus 30 or more animals) were helicoptered out of the canyon. My wife just flew in and we are busy backpacking supplies and clothing and kitty stuff out for several months – that is how long it will be before the bridges and roads are rebuilt.
Sounds like Noah’s Chopper!
Well if his wife can fly …

Ooooooh, Dry Dock, you have competition
Blech. Pumpkin beer. And it probably has cinnamon in it.
Youre wrong about these.
I’m willing to admit I’m wrong, but I’ve yet to find a pumpkin beer I like.
I hadnt either til this year. This isnt shitty Shipyard pumpkin. They’re stout dark and thick with pumpkin enhancing (not overtaking) the chocolates and toffees. MMMMMMMMMMMMmammy!
Ok. I might be willing to try it with that kind of description and praise. 🙂
What would be your opinion of the classic dogfish head punkin beer?
I finally got my hands on some this year.
If you hate it Ill eat it!

Way better than I thought. I got 7. But, only because they count sci-fi as drama and they counted Dr. Who twice.
Oh wait. Missed Being Human. Up to 8.
Though there were several others I was familiar with but had never watched.
15 (16 if you count Broadchurch which I haven’t watched yet but is on my DVR.
5-ish. We finished Broadchurch last night – SO SAD.
Packed and ready for a weekend trip to Edmonton. Working a table at the Edmonton Expo
I’m thoroughly enjoying the WNBA playoffs.
Go Mercury, though I have a deep fascination with Seimone Augustus, so Minnesota can win and I’ll keep watching.
But the postgame comments were truly memorable. When questioned about the incident, Taurasi sarcastically said, “We were just trying to make sweet love.” Augustus fired back, “The tango dance that we had, I always say she just wanted some of my deliciousness.”
That is fantastic. It so needs to happen in the MNBA.
Didn’t Rodman do that once?
This is a difficult tune with non-standard timing – – no easy feat to cover it so precisely and perfectly.
The drummer may be the most impressive of the bunch, but major kudos to all of these kids. I may even prefer these vocals to Maynard’s for this song.
Holy shit… watch that girl in the coming years. Shes got the voice and mannerisms to make it big.
Holy crap! That’s great!
It was certainly well produced.
I wonder if they sound that good “live”?
Ok, I’m pretty much out of here. I will have limited internet access (and time) so don’t be surprised if you don’t hear from me until Tuesday.
Heading home after seeing this:
Got good reviews, left me a bit non plussed.

Seemed she wasn’t impressed with film either.
Creeping Americanism, I mean Lift of course.
Thank you for clarifying.
By the way! This is out today:
With stories from a bunch of good authors and one from me.
Do we have to surround you and rub your feet in oil to make you realise your stuff is good?
Thanks for saying so, Van. I hope that my self-deprecating manner never comes across as compliment-fishing.
Although, if I do catch any fish, then we can rub and saute them in oil.
Jeez, I read that as “compliment-fisting”
You people are a really bad influence on me.
Any idea what this collection might be rated? I don’t have a kindle but I know those who do and I should know what I’m pitching their way!
J0e, I’ll have to find out for you.
My story in this one would be a solid PG, due to a few non-graphic, non-gruesome deaths and some very mild language.
Dont own kindle!!!!
You should have your name there…
Jack Kindle sounds a bit wooden.

Already back. Pretty crappy event. Very poorly run. But I did get a picture with Amanda Bearse.
Crap joke for the day:
Adam had been moping around all day in the Garden of Eden and God finally said, “Adam, what’s up with all this moping?” Adam told God that he was lonely. God said He could fix that, no problem. In short order he could make a partner for Adam, and she would be called a “woman.” God told Adam that the woman would collect his food, cook it for him, and care for all his needs and wants. She would also agree with all his decisions and not question his authority as head of the family. God also said that she would bear his offspring and and not bother him in the middle of the night if the kids woke up and started crying. She would never nag him and would admit when she was wrong. She would also freely give him love and passion whenever he needed it.Adam said, “Wow, that’s a great partner! What is this woman-person going to cost me?”And God replied, “An arm and a leg.”Adam thought for a minute, then asked, “What can I get for a rib?”And the rest is history. ….
Ribbed for…well, whose pleasure, actually?
This guitar has been ribbed for the listeners’ pleasure

Here’s your fun fact for the day. I think Itunes may have finally tricked me into accepting Itunes 11 as it greeted me with some new agreement of terms when I tried to open it today.
Certain that it is going to screw me over in the process, I am backing up some of the critical podcasts in case the new Itunes decides that I really didn’t want them even though I’ve said I have.
So, while I didn’t manage to catch every single episode of Deapan, I have most of them. Currently backing up 323 files with a total space consumption of 8.32 GB.
Our Dear Jack has been quite prolific.
good to the last giga Byte!
Deadpan is the motherfucking way to fill up your backup hard drive.
If only there were a way… Hmmm Jack, I have an idea. I’ll email you about it.
Rita Hayworth was dubbed?
Damn you BBC documentary, DAMN YOU!!!
Welcome to the internet, soon to be aka the Walter White discussion zone.
No no no! I’m only in the middle of the 2nd season!
Mother puss bucket.
Well, I don’t know what happend. I’ve still got Itunes 10.6, so I don’t know why I had to agree to anything.
I also don’t know why it pulled my library as it apparently existed on June 18th, 2011. WTF?
Well, I still don’t know what happened, but thankfully, I was able to find a current copy of my Itunes database from this morning and restore from that. All the files were still there, but Itunes decided to open up some ancient copy of my library for some reason.
I’ll be busy plucking out the gray hairs for the rest of the evening.

I still say this is brilliant!
A) It’s funky as all get out!
2) It’s like waiting 30 years for a punch line.
C) Did I mention it’s REALLY funky?
Wow with the guest stars.
Agreed. That is, indeed, brilliant.

Last night I watched Season one Ep#1 – Buffy, Vampire Slayer.
I don’t think I had actually seen any of that first season.
It has a real “low budget” feel to it but hits the ground running with Joss-ey character interaction.
Not that facts or information from a respected impartial source will make a difference to most….
Still, let’s shut down the government over it.
For perspective – this is a small group with a very extreme opinion, forcing this action on their own political party (who at best, represent only half the US voters). So this small segment of only half of America is willing to damage our economy and add to the deficit unless the America is willing to give in to their demands.
But if the White House gives in, what will they threaten to shut down the government for in 3 months?
“End Gay marriage or we’ll shut the government down! Make all abortion illegal or we’ll shut the government down! Give more tax breaks to the 1% or we’ll shut the government down!”
Typically speaking, if you give in to extortionist demands it just emboldens them to continue on that path.
CW: “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” S1E1, via the ABC website. Grateful they made the episode available there for those of us who missed it on-air. Enjoying it so far, and intrigued. 🙂
Thanks. I haven’t seen it yet, so this will be handy.
Its good. Potential to be great. Also potential to be Wheedon by the numbers shitstorm.
