Reminded of Captain Beefheart.
Not fucking around this week, Van!
Have a good morning.
So for those in the know, um, the rock has started rolling.
Crazy boy–
Everybody knows the rock leans over the town
Everybody knows that it won’t tumble to the ground
We’ve more important studies than your fantasies and fears
You know that rock’s been perched up there for a hundred thousand years
I give Van big hugs for this *big hugs*. 😉
Foreplay.
Ask Boston.
FAB!

Stupid smoke detector decided the battery was running low at 1am last night. Waking up at such an ungodly hour to the chirping of the smoke detector was not fun
I hate it when that happens. I’ve had to deal with that too many times.
My solution is to change the batteries on all of them.
We change the batteries quite regularly so it should have been fine. I figure it was just a bad battery. That happens now and then *shrug*
So, Tuesdays is the day now?
Tuesday is the new Thursday
My Bowflex gets delivered around lunch time today.
I’ll listen to the show and do note once I kick hubby out of the house in about ten minutes
I think I might book my flight to Deadpan Land this week.
I have to decide if I want to leave Arizona at one or seven pm. While seven does have it’s pluses, the big minus is I wont land until eleven, which means I won’t be in bed til well past midnight. This Bunny just doesn’t operate that well at that time. Since I’ll be driving myself home from the airport, I suppose it will have to be the earlier flight. :ermm:
Ok, enough of this sillyness. I have serious podcast notes to take… :cheerful:
My phone has the theme from Close Encounters of the Third Kind as its ring tone
Unless hubby calls, then Kiss From a Rose by Seal plays
Oh yeah… for my Boo a song from Bubblegum Crisis plays. That’s it for ring tones. :silly:
pronunciation
Ok, who did the poem? I want to say Marla Dianne but I want to make sure before I put them in the show notes.
Sorry, story not poem.
Oh yeah, I should send in my commentary on my buddy’s music to Jack. Will have to wait until tomorrow.
Ok, I think I may have to go with the 7pm flight. Yes I’ll be non-functional when I get home, but the price is half the cost of the 1pm flight. What’s that about?
If you ever go on holiday to the UK, the madness of train ticket pricing awaits you.
We’re actually thinking of a holiday in the UK at some point in the future. I know it sounds silly but hubby and I can’t holiday for more that a day because of our neurotic 16 year old cat.
Once we don’t have any pet concerns we plan to do a lot of travelling.
– this is in no way saying I’m waiting for my cat to die. I loves my Reeny and will be devastated when she passes on.

Closing Music
Hey Jack!
At one time you were thinking of having an all female episode. Is this still happening?
I’m wondering if I’ve stunned Lejon into silence with my bad taste in late 80’s music.
I have trouble believing you taste bad, Van… oh wait…
I have an e-mail in to hubby to see which flight works better with his schedule. Usually he drops me off in the morning before work and picks me up after work when I get home. While I have booked the Tuesday off and can sleep in the next day, he can’t so I may have to use the park and fly and drive myself home. I can’t take a taxi, we live far enough from the airport that it’s actually cheaper to use the Park and Fly for four days than to get a cab. We’ll see what hubby says.
For some of the newbies (looks at Desert Pixie), I know you probably don’t care but I thought I should clarify, while I may be a huge flirt, most Deadpanites know I all but worship my hubby and would never, never, ever do anything to jeopardize that. I’m all talk, no action.
While I know it helps with the comment count, that is not why I’m really yappy on the board today. They’re having computer troubles at work so I haven’t been able to get any of my reports for the day. Therefore I’m sitting at my desk doing nothing. Bad for getting work out of the way, good for wasting time on the Deadpan.
Jack, for me the move to Tuesday has nothing to do with my lack of participation lately. Life just got a bit hairy, but things are looking more . . . shaved? . . . now so I’ll be back as much as I can.
Bunny, no action?
ummm, I’m not sure what you mean by no action, Ess. Hubby gives great “action” :kissing:
Oh right, you’re referring to my earlier comment. My answer still stands!
I have a silly hubby. As I said I sent him an e-mail about taking an earlier vs. later flight. His answer: “Don’t worry about tiring me out! I can handle it.”
See… “action”
Booking my flight now. Will be taking the 7pm flight home from Arizona
My flight has been booked.
For those I e-mailed earlier, ignore my proposed departure time, I’m taking the 7pm flight not the 1pm.
oooh, one of my reports came in. I guess I better work now.
So they were making a point on a podcast I listen to that Star Wars is a type of road trip movie. Not a movie you watch while taking a road trip, but a movie about a road trip (space trip). They travel a long distance and have various misadventures along the way. Thoughts?
I’m referring to the original Star Wars (Episode IV) by the way.
I would agree, but I think the original “road trip” movies tend to be comedies.
You can boil most movie plots to basic themes.
Maybe I’m just be pedantic here, but for a movie to qualify as a road trip, it needs Tarmac and a non flying vehicle of some sort.
I was referring to the Hope/Crosby movies that, I believe, originally coined the road trip movie moniker.
While I haven’t seen one in a while, I use to love the Hope/Crosby movies.
..and as ditto mentioned, a comedy.
So I wouldn’t put Raiders of the Lost Ark into the road trip category, even if it has some amusing bits.
Ditto, I can’t recall if you’ve managed to see the live action film?
Yep. Late last year, I got caught up on almost everything. I’m surprised the original series still holds up reasonably well, given its age. Of course, I’m biased so…. 😉
If you like space operas, the new one should be quite entertaining.
Arguing over breakfast cereal is quite cathartic.
Is that arguing while eating breakfast cereal, or arguing about which is the best? Either way, whatever works for you *shrug* :cheerful:
Big brands vs store own brands
I don’t think it was appreciated when I pointed out one of the big breakfast cereal makers in the UK is actually involved in the making of some store brand cereal.
Thats the same hear, Van. IthOught that was common knowledge
😆 Jack. You know why…
CP: Shine A Little Love — ELO
BTW, finished “High Fidelity” (the book) last night. I quite enjoyed it. But what does the main character have against Pink Floyd! Grrrrrrrr. 🙂
Of course plots don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
I agree. That’s why I don’t take genre classifications too seriously.
Perhaps a Lucky Charms vs. Marshmallow Mateys blind taste test is needed.
OK, “needed” is a strong word.
Blech. Hubby loves these really sweet cereals. I, personally, can’t stand them
I started replaying Mass Effect 2, yesterday. I’m looking forward to #3 next month.
Hubby started ME1. Unfortunately it keeps freezing (on pc) so he got frustrated and qiuit
Nowadays, the only PC games I play are MMOs. I’ll have to make an exception for “To The Moon”, however.
I’m still pretty much PC exclusive
For me, it got to be too much of a hassle keeping the computers up to date so I could play the good games.
Hubby is having the opposite problem. While his computer is no way as high end as mine, it’s still too high for when ME1 came out. He had to tell the computer to run in XP mode just to get it to run. Even so, it still crashes on a regular basis. However, it seems to be fine for Oblivion which he just started too. Go figure
Are you sure it hasn’t been nicked from a museum dedicated to the Spanish Inquisition?
(See earlier posts on “Husband Action”)
While, in theory, we got it mainly for hubby I expect to get a bit of use out of it myself. I have to be careful on what I can do when exercising and this is kinesiologist approved
Lunch time! I see some chicken noodle soup in my very near future.
Let’s see, I’m not gay so, going by the logic posted… Since Canada supports gay marriage, my marriage is null and void and hubby and I should just pack it in right now :pinch:
Old man Dave has been even more disappointing than old man Lars.
Dave’s a man of extremes. The old saying about born again drug abusers replacing one addiction for another rings true here.
There, not only did I eat lunch but even stated sending out the Feb newsletter for WWC. I feel like I’ve accomplished stuff.
Now…where’s my Bowflex?
While I admit it’s been a fabulous winter over all, and I have no reason to complain, still I was not happy to hear the weatherman say HIGHS of -20 by the weekend
BTW, I didn’t mean to suggest that against gay marriage = dumb. I get that there’re other thoughts on the issue than mine.
Wrong, not dumb . . .
Against gay marriage is not dumb as that is a personal choose to support or not but inferring ONLY gays would support gay marriage is dumb.
Just got the email saying the one Preordered is on it’s way.
I’ve heard mostly positive reviews too.
I wouldn’t mind having one, but that isn’t going to happen soon.
On one hand it is cool that the Vita is download games only as that is sure to boost its portability and battery life. What blows is the lack of cheap used games. But overall I haven’t done a lot of handheld gaming. Sometimes I play a few games of UNO on my phone when I’m away from home and don’t have anything better to do.
I suspect Super Stardust will be the first game I buy online.
While I admit penguins are cool I just don’t see the point of waiting two hours in line to see the new exhibit at the Calgary Zoo. They’ll still be there next week, or next year. Do you really have to see them “right now”? I have better ways to spend two hours than standing in line for that. *shakes head at the silliness of people*
Similar thing happening at Edinburgh Zoo with the two Pandas from China.
Alas think I’m going to get my arm twisted by sister into getting into the queue.
We’re suppose to get panda in a couple of years.
A Twisted Sister pin? On your uniform??

I think you should get a Shake-Weight.
I’m sure hubby would like to watch me using one
*Waves at the pan group then hangs her head in shame.* I have been missing a long time again. I’ve missed you all. I really do need a smart phone I think 😛
No shame, Cyn! Good to see you when you can get here.
Hey Cynful. Im a newbie. 🙂
Hi Newbie 🙂
Welcome to the wonderful world of Pan.
Damn, now I want Pan cakes too.
90 minutes til I can make banana caramel pancakes.
We has a Bowflex.
*waves at Cynful*
It was pancake Tuesday today.
I had three pancakes with maple syrup..yum.
I want pancakes 🙁
In case my reply to Bunny is lost in the masses from earlier today, here is ‘comment vomit’ & then back to sleep I go.
1. I rather enjoy the Star Wars Radio Drama for road trips & even quiet nights at home.
2. I’m thrilled my Ear Buddies selection was sent & has yet to be met w/ distain.
3. KOOZA by Cirque du Soleil is coming to Phoenix this summer; which meams YOU should come to Phoenix this summer, too. And, No, it will not be open by the time the Mmmmmmeetup gets here. Boo.
4. I think mostly everyone on here is a giant flirt. The man-love between Jack, Lo & Rhettro is beautiful. I tear up everytime they exchange a ‘sack joke. Keep the flirts coming. Im quiet at first– its just until I get to know each of you a little better. 🙂
5. Speaking of Sack Exchange…
Ok I need more zzzzz’s before work. G’Night Deadpan.
“I think mostly everyone on here is a giant flirt.”
Except for me.
I’m a slut.
Well, I WOULD be a slut but they have yet to let me join. Damn them and their elitist standards!
On the plus side, I’m looking forward to Saturday’s moviepalooza. I’m going to see the second half of the Oscar Best Picture showcase. I couldn’t make myself go to the full 24 hour marathon.
It’s because of Jack that I have multiple versions of Psycho Killer on my shuffle. My daughter looks at me strange whenever it comes on. Whenever I complain about her music, she says “You’ve got a song called Psycho Killer! And my music is bad?”
Better, run, run, run, run…. run, run away.
fa-f-f-fa-f-f far better.

I’ve never seen the Coyotes recover from a 0-3 deficit, until tonight. 🙂
Helluva game. Helluva hockey day. The Rangers, Red Wings, Sharks, Kings, and Flames (sorry Bunny) all lost, while the Coyotes and Devils both won in dramatic fashion.
Oh *hic* hockey. YOu cruel *hic* mistress. I member when *hic* I uuuused to watch *hic* the Stanley Cup paraded downtown *hic*. Thooooose were the dayyyyys *hic*
Yeah, that’s too bad about the Wings, but at least they still have the most points in the league. 🙂
*hic*
*hic* Steve Downie??????? *hic* STEEEVE DOWNIEEE?!?!??!?!?!?!??!?!
*drops to knees ala Platoon*
Steve goddamn Downie. Thats gonna be it too isnt it? 3 points out of a goddamn playoff spot and Steve goddamn Downie is the answer?
*hic*
Hoooo maybe the drink has outlasted its welcome…. *hic*
On the plus side you get that new Bowflex all to yourself..
ummm, just what do you think I would use the Bowflex for? It doesn’t vibrate.
Excercise?
Whoa! A 77-point game day…
Yeah. It’s going to be another low pointer for me today. Only three of my people are playing today :dizzy:
Good morning Pannites! Good morning mush. Starting the day with Jack’s earworm and Jonathan Coulton’s “Baby’s Got Back”. Going to be a musical brain day, yay! Happy ashy day to those who observe.
Steve Downie
You take that back
Here’s a first:
the drag queen, meth-withdrawing, suicidal patient called the ‘Bisexual, Lonely for Love Sex Hotline’ from his hospital room.
Who else has a good ‘first’ they want to share
I don’t know. Your “first” is so… strange it would be hard to top.
Strange? Or utterly hilarious?
Does the “Bisexual, Lonely for Love Sex Hotline” do deliveries?
I don’t know, but JfS might have some sausage pizzas left over. 😉
You said ‘sausage.’
*giggles*
And what’s that number?

I found out today that Jack in talk with the Avalanche about trading Van for Steve Downie. In the works of the Deadpan general manager Jack Mangan, “The Deadpan believes that Steve Downie will add grit and skill to our lineup offensively.” And trust me when I say that the Deadpan hasn’t been near as offensive as it has been in the past. Of course we could hold out for a first round draft pick like Azzmuncher69 from the Youtube Commenters.
This is the fooking gayest thing I’ve ever herd.
Good thing we can count on Deadpan’s veteran players. 🙂
That’s right. We’ve got the wounds to prove it.
No, I’m not looking at your ass again.
Do it.
Why? Why must make me sob? Why you kick when me is down? Why you break already broken bones? Why you must hurt the ones you love??
Plus, we all know Van has much better crap jokes than Steve Downie. Deadpan would be foolish to trade him!
True, the “crap jokes” do make for an offensive game plan.
Although his game could stand to add a few more bodily fluid jokes in it repertoire
Spoooooooooooooooooooooooooge.
“heat up your dinner”
Yep, his jokes could use a little more spunk.
I feel I should be grateful that I have no idea who Steve Downie is.
I didn’t know who he was either until Lo brought him up. But I think the fact that I didn’t know who he was is related to Lo’s chagrin.

I’m going to sit in the corner and pout.
Don’t mind me.
Don’t pout CJ. Don’t make me break out the hugs!
why are you pouting anyway?
Because I had to take LostRalph to the airport yesterday. This whole him having to go home after every visit is just a crock of bogus.
Awe. That is made of suck. You are allowed to pout, even to cry a little.
*hugs!!!!!*
Well, my friends, at last it can be revealed – Jen and I returned from signing the closing documents to sell our old house. I have at last reduced by vast land holdings from two houses back to one.
And there was much rejoicing!
Huzzah!
Congrats!

woot WOOT woot!
Did you eat your minstrels?
He enjoyed their coconuts
I hope he remembered to put the lime in the coconut.
Gratz!!
Yeah!
Way to go the From Texases!
I saw something that is surreal but I think you’d have to be Canadian to find it so. It was for Tim Horton’s (donut shop) and they were carefully explaining their “tool up to win” contest. Everybody in Canada knows what Roll up the Rim season is.
Something to do with snow tires?
Yes Jack, that’s exactly what it’s about
C: texting with my hubby
I told hubby I bought him chocolate. Now he’s sad he’s not home to have it 🙁
Ralph left his Thin Mints at my house.
They won’t be at my house when he returns.
I cannot help it.
I think, on Friday, I’ll make cinnamon buns instead of cookies. I wonder if I have any yeast.
Under strange: last night I got two texts, about an hour apart from some guy named Justin, claiming to be my cousin. I didn’t reply. I don’t have a cousin Justin… At least, not that I’m aware of
Can you tell I’m bored? After the news, I might have a hot bubble bath and curl up in bed with a book.
According to the news, Burlington ranked number one as far as cyber crimes in Canada. Calgary was fifth
It must be a slow news day. They spent several minutes talking about some app for the Oascars. How… Exciting?
I think I’m upset with my goddess. Yesterday I sent her my flight itenary as well as some other info. She never replied back. I guess she doesnt love me any more 🙁 maybe I should be miffed with Ralph for taking her attention away. After all, it’s all about me you know 😉
I wrote this huge, long reply this morning and then saved the draft as I was going to further edit it, then it no longer made sense when I looked at it later. *sigh*
I’m made of fail…
I was also um, researching local hotels for someone etc.. 😉
I was just being a brat, CJ. However, like a good little zealot, I’ve replied to my Goddess already *hugs*
Ok, I think I’m going to cover myself in bubbles. Will probably pop back after I stop being all wet
My bath was wonderful. Although it was marred by having to come out to answer the phone. This time, strangest Justin called instead of texted. He was looking for Ryan. While its possible he really meant me as I’ve been called that many times, I still didn’t know who he was so I simply said, “there’s no Ryan here.
I wonder if I’ve developed a stalker… *not serious*
Hey ditto!
What hotel did you and mrs ditto stay at when at Deadpanland a fer years ago?
And was it a nice one? In feel, cleanliness, and cost?
Ha! Cj has already done some research.
Do you still want the info?
I’m wearing (insert echoes) SLIPPERS… of of of of FIRE fire fire fire….
Slippers of fire? You might to throw some water on those
Oh, and Cj. I think Bernard Callebeau is a given, no matter what the result is. After all, must make offerings to my goddess
I offer Thin Mints…
and other items.
Is this something I should know? I mean, what you and Cj call it is really TMI.
Oh and those “other items” so incredibly delicious they are.
I thought that chocolatier went out of business? Not that I’m complaining of course – nomnomnom… though I’d always happily accept Bunny without chocolate too
They did go out of business. It’s a long and confusing tale that includes lawsuits rumors and much, much drama. Still, there still seems to be one or two shopes in Calgary. Go figure *shrug*

Now hubby’s texting me with trivia questions on some of the TV we watch. What kind of parent orientation is he at anyway?
I am 8 bit blissing out right now. I may have to make it official and declare ditto as my deity. Sorry, Lo Pan.
May you go deaf in the hell of 8-Bit Nickelback.
And, I’m now booked for my flight to the heart of Deadpan land.
Can I still choose “none of the above” ???
Though, probably one of the best ideas I’ve heard lately is putting Clinton back in for a third term and Gingrich back in as House Speaker. At least we weren’t running broke back then.
This post is entirely frivolous.
Ahhh, the good old days, when partisan political bickering was just embarrassing, and not dangerous ly destructive.
Where the hell is Nomad Scry?
Yeah!
Avs kill the Kings. I dont know whats worse… seeing this kind of game where everything clicks and yearning for consistency; or not being able to complete a pass/play defense and lose 4-1. Both are cringe worthy in their own special way.
I hear Clifford made a bonehead plat that resulted in an Ave goal. Dumbass.
Rally back, Avs!!!
To clarify: Avs should rally back into playoff spot and kick the Kings O-U-T!
*sniff* I…I…I… I love you so much right now. Lets hope for a Yotes/Avs Western Final!!! Whoop! Ya hear tyhat Detroit???? Put fat Red Wing in his place… smash a fuckin bottle in his face!
*cough* but I digress. (I love you Rhetty)
Been watching too many highlights of the Roy/Vernon and Roy/Osgood fights.
I’ll give you Vernon beat(ish) Roy (for the 20 seconds it lasted), but JEEEEEESUS Roy pounded Osgood.
And I miss the Avs/Wings rivalry so very very much.
OH goddammit Pixie, look what you started!!!! 😉
*hic* -y
I, too, miss the days of Patrick Roy and the fun-to-watch Avs of the late ’90’s
Hugs. Now.

Despite the overwhelming downside, there is still is an upside to having been born in Detroit. 🙂

What’s with these people that get time off?
I think Van thinks I might be a hotel snob. Do others think this? All I need is a clean bed to sleep in and a clean washroom to clean my body in. *humph*
Umm see previous message about coats.
I wasn’t implying you were a snob, but thought you might have different standards from me.
I know Van. I’m just being bratty.
My buddy and I have finished recording our segments. He’s going to send the whole thing to Jack.
Does anyone else have this stuck in their heads now?
I think I’m going to go to Ikea at lunch time. I need… something. I’m not sure what but I’ll know it when I see it. Something to hold all my sewing stuff.

A new fiction orientated magazine is always welcome but this sounds a bit pretentacious:
“USA Today analyzed super PAC donations since Jan. 1, 2011, and found that one out of every four dollars came from just five spectacularly wealthy donors ”
The most galling thing for me about that is that people are struggling and these MFers have money to wipe with and this is what they do with it.

Global Thermonuclear War….we’ve come a long way since the W.O.P.R., baby.
You know it’s time to pull over and take a break, while on a road trip w/ only 3 hrs of sleep, when Shaggy comes on the ipod and you start jiggling your booty in your seat. o_O
Chair dancing is always welcome, road trip or not.
Reading Jack’s link from yesterday about Star Wars brought a thought back to my mind.
Us techheads are too have a rosier view of culture than we think.
Star Wars is still not that popular. Home computers are not that ubiquitous.
2 of my current coworkers are younger than me and do not own a computer. I doubt either of them could even guess how many Star Wars movies have been made.
Just some food for thought. I’ll get off my molehill now.

Can’t tell yet, though I’d like to keep the option open.

CD: a Gratzer from Choc Beer, an ‘extinct’ Polish style beer. interesting.
For those not on facebook here are my thoughts on the beer.
The smoked malt comes through clearly in the aroma, but not overpowering. The hops nicely accent the smoke in the aroma with spiciness, with a hint of sweet malt in the background. Drinking it the hops come forward in the actual flavor of the beer, and the smoke lingering in the back. The hops are not strong, but still very noticeable most beer drinkers will not be put off by the bitterness, though those who have a problem with any bitterness will probably not like this beer. It’s dry finish is enhanced by the effervescent carbonation making it very refreshing. In appearance it’s a cloudy dark yellow, with a thin white head made of small bubbles.
It most reminds me of a smoky saison, or perhaps a strong american wheat since I’m not getting much yeast character. I’m assuming, as I’m not familiar with the unique Polish hops or yeast it’s hard to discern how much each are affecting the character of the beer.
I’d like to drink this with some good smoked barbecue, or perhaps the obvious sausage. I think the smokiness will enhance any smoke character in the meat, and the hoppiness, along with the effervescent, dry mouth feel, will cut through the grease and any sweetness to help cleanse the palate. Although you may want to steer away from spicy food due to the above average alcohol content.
All in all a truly good and delicious beer that I highly recommend. I look forward to finishing the bottle, and drinking it again in the future. I will have to keep my eye out for other brewers attempts at this style as I think it has alot of interesting character.
Avs/Wings ended up being a great game…tho it had no business being such 😉
That damn Steve Downie.
STEEEEEEEEEEVE DOWNIE!
Mindless hockey talk about ex-Avs:
Wojtek Wolski is now a Panther, traded for Defenseman Mike Vernace (I dont know him either) AND a 3rd round pick. The Rangers barely played Wolski and in him debut tonite for Florida, Wolski played over 15 minutes and had a goal on 4 shots. Mayhaps both these teams got a good deal. And mayhaps I dont care about either team.

How the Hamonic are the Yotes 9-0-1 in their last 10 games?? Very impressive
wtf is hamonic, Lo? Im almost offended. Go Yotes!!!
And elder god’s ways are not our ways, Pixie. Understanding is rarely achievable. Sometimes the best we can hope for is to avoid a random smiting.

So it’s Sunday.
I think I better do some cleaning today.

Snow, snow and more snow is what I see right now.
My poor hubby has a dilemma. The principal of the high school is going on a sabbatical (don’t ask me what that means, I haven’t the foggiest). The superintendent of the schools is hinting very strongly that he would like John to apply for the position. While hubby does want a principal position, he doesn’t want it to be of the high school. (he’s more elementary or middle school). The problem is, there is no guarantee a position will open up in one of the other schools in the near future. So his dilemma is, does he take this position even though it’s only sort of what he wants, or does he wait for another school to have the opening.
Oh yeah, side note: There are only seven schools in his system. Also, He’s only 5’4. Part of the reason he doesn’t want to be principal of a high schools is, it’s hard to be intimidating when all the students are taller than you 😉
I thought it was the Vice Principal’s job to be the disciplinarian of the school. See if the Super will let him pick a VP that he would trust to give him the backup he needs.
John is currently VP of a middle school, he and the principal sort of hand off on discipline, depending upon what’s needed. He won’t be able to pick his VP as that position is already filled. They are not going to fire the current VP just because the principal is leaving.
I think I’m becoming annoying with all the questions I have for poor Jack.
Sitting at the hair cutters watching hubby getting his head made bare.
Turns out the store next door has free wifi

If sabbaticals work the same for high schools as they do for universities, they are a semester long “break” in responsibility that is meant to allow te person to travel to a different school and collaborate with other people to broaden their abilities.
To make a long story short (too late), the position at the high school sounds like a temporary one. He could deal with the high school students for a semester and demonstrate to the superintendent that he is capable of handling that type of position do that he is a prime candidate when a spot opens up at the lower grade levels.
Apparently the principal is going for his PHD. That’s what he’s taking a sabbatical for. Even a temporary principalship is still a step up. When hubby first started doing VP, he did a temporary position for someone on maternity leave. It then rolled over into something permanent as, coincidentally, another VP position opened up when his term was up. With only seven schools in the system, there is no guarantee something else will open up any time soon.
Anyway, he does have lots of time to decide. The new position wouldn’t start until September.
The train home is full of students from New Zealand..go figure.
Just watched “In Time” on Amazon this evening. With all the bagging it got in the reviews, I was expecting disappointment.
I wasn’t. While certainly not a perfect movie, we thought it had a lot going for it.
Alright, I’m probably going to finish up “A Princess of Mars”, the first John Carter book by Edgar Rice Burroughs that I presume will loosely translate into the film in a few weeks.
I’m struggling a bit deciding what to listen to next. I finished the last Acacia book, which provided a satisfying conclusion to the arc. I also just listened to “Predictably Irrational”. While I found some of the conclusions flawed, it was still a thought provoking book.
Now, I’m just not feeling a strong tug in any particular direction. What have you other good Deadpanites been reading/listening to that you’d recommend?
I listened to the librivox version of “A Princess of Mars”, and was able to enjoy it for what it was, but I have zero faith in the movie.
Goodnight :moon:
Morning pan!
I had waffles with whipped cream and raspberries for breakfast this morning. Yum
My cat is easily confused. Hubby had to go out the front door because the back door was frozen shut. The cat just stared at the front door in total bafflement for several minutes after he left. She’s weird.
Just sitting here, waiting for my reports to come in. *sigh*
It’s -20C in the great white north. -26 with the wind chill. Do your own damn conversion. Either way, it’s cold.
I have this stupid exercise ball. We work out in the basement which is cooler than the rest of the house. I blow up my ball and, once the air inside cools, it goes soft. The hand pump that came with the ball looks like I’m making rude gestures whenever I use it and it tires me out. I think I may have to find a foot pump or something.
Best. Comment. Ever.
Jeremy, Jeremy, Jeremy. You pronounced my name wrong. I’m so insulted.
Did Jeremy speak in class today?
No. He was my earbuddy. He sent me a copy of his file.

I’m thinking its a good sign that he didnt speak in class today
I tell people I’m a little ray ah sunshine :cheerful:
How do you mispronounce “Energizer Bunny”?
Duracell Bunny?
I’ve stumbled back to normalcy after the utterly successful Wine Walk and 1000+ mile road trip.
Boo.
The thing with the earbuddies is most of the time I don’t have an actual reason why I like a song. It’s hard to convey I like it because I like it *shrug*
That includes films and books as well for me.
Please don’t feel obligated to give in-depth EB analysis if that’s not the way you process music.
“I like/dislike this song and I usually like these artists: ” is more than adequate.
Hubby’s upset. He bought an amp shortly before Christmas and now he has to take it back. The tweeter keeps cutting out.
His amp has a tweeter?
I’m running under that assumption since that what he said. I honestly have no idea. It’s a Line 6 Spider if that helps.
Ah, I used to own a Line 6, Spider. It was… okay.
He has two amps He took to school. At the moment, this is the only on he has at home. Since he just got a few months ago, he’d like it to work. Even if he only uses it for casual playing and fooling around
If he exchanges it I would recommend a Peavey Vyper or a Roland MicroCube. That said, my newest piece of gear hasn’t let me down in the slightest even though it isn’t technically an amp.
I know he has a mini cube. I have no idea what the other one is
FWIW, I’be always liked Crate amps.
I like pie.
FWIW: I’be answer like a Fabt Albert character.

Hi Pan.
Best Picture Showcase on Saturday was awesome. I will do it again.
My head hurts so bad today and I am so filled with blah for the work today.
I hope you all have a good day 🙂
Over the weekend we watched Sinbad and the Minotaur as well as Bad Teacher. Believe it or not, Sinbad was the more enjoyable of the two. If you’re going to watch a bad movie, you’re better off watching one full of camp.

:silly:

Its a buddy picture.
Star Wars? Perhaps.
Here’s TV Tropes information on Buddy Pictures and Road Trip Movies.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RoadMovie
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BuddyPicture
There are a bunch of similarities.
Thought the original Star Wars was more of a coming of Age thing.
I recommend the Star Wars Radio Drama for Road Trippin’!
According to my (spam) e-mail, the executive director of the FBI wants to talk to me about some long lost relative I have. I have my doubts.
Friends know that Star Blazers/Yamato holds a special place in my heart, so I’m really excited about this new version.
http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2012/02/20-1/video-watch-4-min-of-space-battleship-yamato-2199

Go figure
I had been trying to figure out the title of this book for years.

Dave Mustaine shows off his intellect:
http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2012/02/20/Megadeaths_Dave_Mustaine_Opposed_Same_Sex_Marriage_Because_Hes_Christian/
The new Sony Handheld gets a postive review:
http://m.kotaku.com/5884517/the-playstation-vita-the-kotaku-review

I don’t know. Your “first” is so… strange it would be hard to top.
Strange? Or utterly hilarious?
Does the “Bisexual, Lonely for Love Sex Hotline” do deliveries?

Because I had to take LostRalph to the airport yesterday. This whole him having to go home after every visit is just a crock of bogus.

It didn’t snow last night. They say it’s been moved to this afternoon. That means I’m shopping with my grandma today
Turns out I’m not going shopping. My grandmother has a cold and wants to rest. We’ve rescheduled for next weekend

You are reprieved! At least for the month of Saldoon… then we’ll see. Oh we shall see!

The radio at the hair cutters is playing Every Rose Has Ots Thorn. Where’s my lighter?

Every Rose of Cairo is Woody Allen’s thorn

I’d rather be in New Zealand. It’s warmer

Ok, those are actually kind of cool.

Ray-gun Ryah.
