Morning Pan, waiting inline for the vampire.
That was my three stooges reference for the evening.
Good night old lady trying to make me eat mush and stay quiet. Sheesh. I mean I’m not even tired……..zzzzzzz
Oh yeah. Tomorrow is Thursday. Woo woo.
That was cool
that was very cool, but why are clowns robbing a hospital? You’d think they’d get more money from a bank 🙂
I already get up early enough in the morning with the alarm thank. The extra early waking pattern won’t be necessary.
Today Christmas comes to Bunnytown. My Boo and her Boofriend is coming over. We’re going to deck my hall, trim my tree and make gingerbread cookies.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun :silly:
Not an audio book Jack, but a concept album.
Grrrrrr! At TEB.
I’ll get my coat.
*hugs Vanamonde* 🙂
That’s right! I remember the discussion clearly now.
Even better, Vanamonde Claus. Thanks!!
..and yes I used ‘album’ you young whippersnappers.
I’m listening to the latest Clarkesworld podcast and getting an extreme case of deja vu with the story.
Now I can’t find it on any of my regular scifi and fantasy podcasts, so I may have had a premonition about listening to that story..how useless is that?
I often say album too, Van.
I must not be totally awake. I sent Jack an email for the show notes then forgot to actually attach the show notes. Silly me :silly:
So how come Jack can receive stuff from across the ocean but when I send him anything, whether it’s from Canada or shipped direct from Amazon US, it seems to fall into a black hole?
*double hugs to van* (he knows why)
Maybe tomorrow I’ll do a play by play
I have: Wyvern http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1331335/
on my DVR
Ran OS 10.5 install disk
Now laptop wont restart
Tried to run Disk Repair from the OS install disks Disk Utillity software
I get message saying “invalid node structure” and “repair failed”.
Gee, upgradeing my OS has left my laptop inopperable, Could it BE anymore cliche’ ?
You know if you would have bought Apple products, you wouldn’t have software problems. …oh wait.
Sorry JOe, hopefully tech support will get you up and running again.
Its the way.
I bought two iOS5 games today, Bug Princess (bullet hell shooter from Cave) and the port of Sonic CD.
Today I will mostly be saying Seegaa.
Gingerbread cookies have been baked. We will decorate them after lunch once they have cooled. I got neon food coloring this year so expect to have some psychedelic cookies later today.
I received the card from you and John! Thank you! 🙂
As did I. Christmas Cheer in your general direction. 🙂
So how come you can get my card but not my parcels? They go to the same address. *sigh*
Any luck on tracking that down BTW?
Also, because of the way their limbs are, I have an awful lot of amputee ninjabread cookies in the mix.
I have the fireplace channel on the TV and have my Iphone hooked up to the stereo playing Christmas music.
I feel very relaxed right now. (despite my parcel woes with Jack)
In about half an hour we’re going to order in lunch. Yum.
Wrapping presents by the “fire” is fun for all ages
My DPSS came yesterday. I put it in the freezer right away.
Oooh, what is it?
Ancient Nomad secret
It’s that critter from ‘The Thing’.
It’s a flexible ice tray that makes Han Solo in carbonite. I think it’s from ditto, though I may be confusing his deadtree name with someone else.
Yep, it was from me. I hope you like it. 🙂
A severed foot? (It is the ultimate stocking stuffer)
aaaaaaand I’m back.
That is … $95 later and I am back.
Rhetro’s re: to my earlier post made me laugh.
It’s like Apple was trying to avoid some sort of Congressional “anti-competitive” action by having you intentionally break the OS by yourself.
“Dear happy Mac user,
Due to complaints from the PC industry regarding the stability of your OS … we need you to put this “upgrade” disk in your computer and click on the “upgrade” button. This should successfully KILL your computer, bringing us more in line with the PC world, and providing some income for the lonely MAC repair guys who are still lurking out there. Thanks!”
Grandma finds the internet:
Our bathtub tap drips. Hubby is currently at the hardware store looking for new innards for our tap. I’m home waiting. The water is shut off. I wonder how much trouble I can get into
It’s 6:30 Arizona and Calgary time. Don’t forget to post show notes when you get home, Jack
Last of the Christmas cards are in the mail.
Two Galaxy Nexi ordered for the wife and I
Replacement refurbed DSi for the boy is ordered – Cowboom just might allow my son to survive until puberty.
Somewhat dry and possibly outdated (appears to be from the late ’90s) but interestingly thought out argument against legally limiting occupancy to two persons per bedroom.
Goodmorning Friday Christmas parties.
Friday before holidays start. Woo Hoo
My bathroom is nice and clean now. Although, my bathmat is looking a little worse for wear. I might sneak out in a bit and get a new one.
…and I ordered giant ass gift baskets for both sets of parents. All my Christmas shopping is done
Now, off to get a new bathmat.
Don’t forget, play by play in a couple of hours. I know you are all quivering in excitement.
Since works Christmas party was cancelled, and I shall be working till Xmas eve, I shall be in the corner sucking on a packet of humbugs.
That sucks, Van.
*Christmas Hug for Vanamonde*
*slides Van a bottle of Pimm’s Winter Cup*
Maybe this will help to wash down those humbugs.
Got a new bath mat. It’s purple. Hubby will be pleased.
Jack, is your head still hanging in shame? 😉
Had humbugs once. Bitch to get rid of, even with cream.
I think you need a mint sauce for those.
Christopher Hitchens has died:
I heard that on the radio this morning. It especially sucks that we was not that old.
Morning Pan! I’m back!
And I got pool cleaning supplies as my DPSS. I guess the pool is coming next? 😉
Ok peeps, you have been warned, it’s movie time!
Today’s movie is Wyvern
The DVR write up: a dragon menaces an Alaskan town.
That’s it. All they say
I hope we’re all discresed, it said viewer discretion ismadvised
Look at that, melting glaciers
Ok, that’s just gross
Wait, who’s going to gut the fish now?
This takes place in Bever Mills
Bever Mills is a cold place.
Ogling the new guy
“you’re too young for arthritis”. Really? I’m sure I’ve heard of preteens getting arthritis
“someone took the rhubarb straight out of that man’s pie”
The sound bites alone are worth the price of admission
I’ve heard of reindeer but rain deer?
She sucks at flirting
Wow, their radio station play actual records. I didn’t think any were still old school
His right hand is dislocated. I wonder what he’s been doing
The doctor is a schmuck
I stand by my previous statement. He’s obviously Wyvern meat
See comment above.
^in response to the right hand comment. LOL
His tie is crooked
Ha! Can I call it
He wants a mocachino frappathingie
“that ain’t moose nuggets”
Haas is having a breakdown. The sherifff says, “haas, have you been smoking the dried kelp?”
Sheriff doesn’t think that any more
The cop in the office is a horrible actress. Things are happening and she can’t seem to break from monotone
Taxidermy sign: you snuff em, we stuff em
Wow, rousing speech there sheriff
Maybe it was a flying moose
Ha ha. That’s funny
You can’t cancel the festival!
Oh my god, I just can’t handle Susie’s acting abilities
Wait, you see a wyvern and say, “I warned them all. Now we’re having an invasion”
“doc ain’t missing. He was lunch”
Now we have slapstick in the mix
“I’m as awake as a steer with a prod up its rear”
Poor colonel, nobody believes him
The wyvern is taking out the radio station. That’s what I’d do too
I wouldn’t listen to her either
You don’t know how happy I am the deputy bit the dust. I just couldn’t handle her any more
I guess he didn’t like the food
It’s not a dragon idiot, it’s a wyvern
“what does this have to do with the price of wheat in Alaska?”
“I don’t know what an allegory looks like, but that thing that bit off docs arm was a wyvern!”
They need a virgin sacrifice to appease the beast.
Really, that’s what he said
Suzie’s dead doh-head
“being a trucker most of my life, I’ve seen a lot of wisdom on the road, and some of it applies to what’s going on right here”
Omg that’s funny
“hello. Anyone alive?”
The sheriff is heartbroken
The town needs a new sheriff now
Ugh. You would not believe how dumb this movie is
Awww, it’s nesting
Well, aren’t you butch
“don’t looke at me, I know how slow I am”
Hands her a gun, “do you know how to use this?”
“of course. This is Alaska.”
Holy crap that’s a smart wyvern
Yup, you have an airborn attacker so what do you do? Climb on the roof of a house
Whew, jake made it
They’re losing it.
Drinking gasoline is yum
Yeah Farley, move your caboose!
Nope. Farley was too slow
Seriously? Doc’s alive? This movie makes no sense at all
Oh, Farley made it too. Just in case you were wondering
So ther’s no power but both the radio and coffee maker works. Go figure
The truth comes out
The backstory sucks too
The doc is bair
Now farley’s dead
“are you ok?”. Really? He’s missing an arm and is covered in blood. Of course he’s not ok
The wyvern just took out a helicopter
What was the point of this?
“leave me a gun”.
Sure, I’ll just give you the one sitting on the table right in front of you. Sheesh
They’re going to electrify the nest
That didn’t work
The eggs are bait
A truck! What a coincidence.
Rock music has started. They have a plan
He put his baseball cap on. He’s ready for battle
Now it’s a race. Can he get to where he’s going before he’s wyvern meat?
It’s a good thing the wyvern got his head stuck in the door as planned. I don’t know what he would have done otherwise
The girl smiles as our hero comes walking down the road
Sure, pick on the crazy lady
Oh my god that was a terrible movie. I can’t believe I sat through the whole thing
Very important question, how many legs did the dragon have?
It had two legs and two arm like apendages, Van. I’d like to say they at least got that part right but then that would be admitting the movie had any merit at all and I certainly don’t want to do that
wyvern it is is then.
Happy Beethoven’s Birthday (observed)!
Da da da dum
Lets invade Normandy..
Ha! I knew it. Which one is your secret crush Lo?
You know its Joey Joe!
Bunny, my head does still hang in shame for disrespecting your Show Notes. This weekend! Maybe even tonight!
Yup, I’m going to make sure the weekend is all about me. At least it’s starting to feel that way as far as stuff I’m making you do
I have dragons to kill
Inspired by the movie?
Mitt? Mitt youve…changed…
Yet another fun movie review. Guess I can skip this one too lol
I forgot to say thanks to Rhettro for the great DPSS present. 🙂
Thanks, I thought you could use a good pool cleaner. Have you sampled any yet?
Vacation day 1 – accomplished. We made 101 tamales!
Also, what is in this picture? Anybody know?
Look at the album artwork from the Pixies “Come On Pilgrim”.
I’m pretty sure that the picture in question is the dude’s back and head, shot nearly vertically at the waist.
its a hairy nutsack.
or if you want the truth its a hairy mans chest taken from about navel level (at least i cockin hope so)
Also I wanna have Kim Deal’s baby. Always have
Can’t blame ya there.
Haha – Sly B said nutsack; I said chest.
Then its clearly a chestsack!
I desperately want a Steve Ott jersey but I refuse as long as he’s with Dallas.
Guess I’ll have to go with Mr. Byfuglien
Anyone here seen the abortion that is the prologue to The Dark Knight Rises?
There’s a prologue to the Dark Knight Rises thats being shown at the beginning of the new Mission:Impossible film. It sucks.
Which, from what I hear, the new Mission Impossible far from sucks
CW: Star Wars: A New Hope
Downloading the Skyrim HD texture pack – 1GB of high res textures to improve the graphics of the PC version.
My graphics card ain’t skeert.
About half way through the 1 GB download.
Ugh work. No offense to those deadpanites living in the land north of the USA, but I have a strong urge to go to Alberta and hit some people.
“We have to actually bring in people from other countries because Canadians don’t want to work.”
Me: No, Canadians are just smart enough, and not desperate enough, to not put up with this bullshit.
0_0 Who said that?
My week was pretty lousy, between the mid-week sick day and having to get a car tire patched last night. My weekend, on the other hand, is off to a fantastic start. My parents and I just had a relaxing evening with dinner at Denny’s, followed by live music at a very nice, new coffee house.
Good night, Pan.
Actually Ralph, it’s no secret Alberta is the Texas of the north. Complete with red necks and all the joys that go with them
Well High Fidelity movie obtained.
Now wondering if the book is worth £6.49 ebook from ibooks.
I have also obtained some suspiciously large ePub files.
That is all
The problem with waking up so early during the week is that, when weekend comes, by 7am your body’s going, ok, that’s enough. Time to get up
The cure for that is to stay up until 1am on Friday playing Skyrim.
I’m at 108 hours in Skyrim. I don’t need to stay up late
Good morning, Skyrim!
We’re going to deliver gifts to all the naughty boys and girls today. And maybe take a nap.
Just finished my 13th shift in a row, tonight, a night off then two shifts on, then hopefully 7 off in a row.
In other news, Fox is sick, so we’ll see how the whole day off goes…
Sooty to hear you have a sick one. Give her lots of hugs
Good luck with all the work stuff and sick kid, JB
Work xmas party week. I’m getting too old to go multiple nights like this.
My work party, and Hugh got 2 work parties. 1 just the team he works with did their own thing, the other was the official company party.
Lots of napping and laziness this morning
Got our first official snow fall of the winter this week, and its snowing again right now! Crossing my fingers for a white Christmas. Hugh is just happy basketball is back in his life. Especially after the last 3 weeks of the train wreck that is the Chicago Bears.
It was nice that they are giving me the chance to work tons of OT to prepare for my ludicrous five days off surrounding Christmas weekend. We have a football team that is a flaming train wreck if the Bears are a train wreck. Possibly a flaming train derailment that hit a tanker truck of some sort.
I know every band in the world is doing reunions these days but… I kinda think this is the most exciting music reunion yet in my opinion:
swoon x 100
that and supposedly Trent is back in the studio doing NIN stuff
swoon x 300
Going to be a good music year for Dre. NIN and Afghan Whigs, new Sleigh Bells album, Kills playing here in Jan, new Franz Ferdinand coming this year. Going to be a good music year.
ok. I have used all the energy I had surfing the interwebs for music gossip. Nappy time.
Yee ha! My DPSS gift arrived today!
Thank you, Secret Santa!
I was going to point out your typo, but I’m glad I just clicked instead…
aaaaand I’m back again.
About this time yesterday I took Firefox’ advice and downloaded/installed their newest version.
By some coincidence, I could no longer use any of my browsers to connect to the interwebs. I could get mail, stream audio, connect to the internet in all other ways … just not with a browser.
It was as frustrating as it sounds.
In the end … I used the disk utility to “repair permissions” and now everything works again.
Naughty boy and girls need naps too
Looks like I wasn’t quite naughty enough this year as there are no Tamales in my stocking.
I shall have to re-double my efforts for next year!
Wobbledy wobble, wo-wo-wobble, wobbin’
Ass so fat, all these bitches’ pussies is throbbin’
Bad bitches, I’m your leader, Phantom by the meter
Somebody point me to the best ass-eater
Tell ‘im “Pussy clean!” I tell them “Pussy squeaky!”
Niggas give me brain ’cause all of them niggas geeky
If he got a mandingo, then I buy him a dashiki
And bust this pussy open in the islands of Waikikiiiiii…
Kiss my ass and my anus, ’cause it’s finally famous
And it’s finally soft, yeah, it’s finally solved!
I don’t know, man, guess them ass shots were off!
Bitches ain’t poppin’, Google, my ass

CW: Dexter S6 E9
OH LOOK! I saw THAT coming…
*looks around for Van and his coat*
I just need to give him a quick spanking is all
Ooooo, can I watch?
Depends if youre done with your Fright Night after party
I can multi-task
Ust finished watching the new Fright Night. David Tennant & Colin Farell. I think I need to go find a bunk
I actually had to look that one up. The answer: maybe if I weren’t fully dressed…
CW: Santa Claus is coming to town
Let’s see what the Galaxy Nexus thinks of Jack Mangan’s Deadpan.
Just back from the new Sherlock Holmes flick.
I pronounce it “Full Price Admission” worthy.
Don’t look for “ground breaking” … just loads of fun.
Ah good, off to see it this morning.
..and a fun movie it was.
Sorry for no tamales, JJ – we didn’t have enough gas in the sleigh! Thanks for the Sherlock review. That one and Dragon Tattoo are on our list to catch the week after xmas.
In our future: family fun. XOX all :panties:
Hubby’s birthday today. Time to party!
Time to get moving.
Fry up your brains with Jack Mangan’s Deadpan and this scientific literacy quiz – 50 questions. I got 42 out of 50. With this group, I don’t expect to hold the top spot for long.
45 out of 50
Bonus nitpick: All genus names for animals are based in Latin or latinized names, not Greek.
42 out of 50.
Damn, smart people on the forum. 38 correct. But I misread one of the questions. =P
37. Damn, I feel ignorant today.
Only 40/50. :frown:
Yes, yes I have made a pre order for this one. I’m all tingly with anticipation…
While the Excelsior (and not that stupid extra body work version Enterprise B) probably is my favorite Federation ship design, Riker’s Dreadnought version of the Enterprise D from the Next Gen finale ranks high on my list as well.
In case you really needed a refresher…
I remember that episode. It was quite good. I don’t think I’ve seen it since it first aired.
I should rewatch the series one of these days.
I’d almost forgotten about the :panties: icon!
I’m so defensive when it comes to Star Wars. I know that people feel the need to voice their hatred for the prequels, but honestly… I want my children to ENJOY them the way I had the opportunity to enjoy the originals. It’s like I feel like I have to protect them from hearing everyone’s negative comments.
I support you in that desire. 🙂
So they should probably avoid Red Letter Media ‘s videos for the prequels…
Shouldn’t you start with those first?
… and not generally in that good way.
I attempt to do it in a good way when given the opportunity. Too bad that opportunity doesn’t present itself very often.
You mean vacuuming the living room carpet. . .
You can call it whatever you want, Jack.
I wonder what a tumbleweed would look like, bedecked with ornaments, tinsel, and strings of lights. . .
(It never was such a bad little tumbleweed. All it needed was a little love.)
/me LOVES this post!!!
A couple of good games on the app store go free for today.
First up is Velocispider:
Think Galaxians on steroids.
..and Jetpack Joyride (universal Ed and works nicely on the first iPads):
…and if you are really sad, there is Bejewelled (hiss spit):
Vjust checked Velocispider is also universal and works nicely on the original iPads
Full, busy weekend here (I don’t even know where to begin). . .
Went to see Adam Corrolla Saturday night, which was pretty fun. Then saw Lejon (and Michelle and Rick Novy and others) for the first time in awhile last night.
Van, I’m digging the WotW album! It’s very 70s, but also very well done. Thanks again.
And holy crap, I’m supposed to give blood today.
Posting from the chair. CPIMM: If you want blood, you got it – AC/DC
Someone is entirely too giddy about finally owning a smart phone.
It’s the blood loss.
Give it time, the novelty soon wears off.
My folks are in love with their new iPhones. Texting beats the telegraph.
Wow, I don’t think I could type on my phone while having blood drawn. 0_0
Van does not like depressing songs. Noted. 😉
You even mentioned Leader of the Pack, another song I would like wiped from reality!
Perhaps you’d prefer the Twisted Sister version?
Strange that I get a higher upload rate on my tethered 3G connection (from my iPhone) than from my actual broadband.
Which I may have mentioned before, damn my memory.
I want Van to hear my favorite happy song, but it’s as though the internet has banned it from audio existence. I swear I’m going to rip that CD upload all the songs.
So, until then – I offer you the challenge to find the audio version of Reasons Why by Merril Bainbridge for your happy audio listening pleasure.
Free apps acquired.
The Twisted Sister version:
An even more wretched video than the one posted last week by Lo Pan? You be the judge.
OMG you win…. you fucking win
WOW embarrassing for them.
Back on November 15, Reaper posted this link to the announcement of Apple’s iPod nano replacement program. I put in my replacement request that same day. Today, I came home to find that my shipping materials to send my old one in had finally arrived. My little first-gen iPod nano is all packed up and ready to be shipped out via UPS. 🙂
Hehe, got this from UPS today:
Delivery Date / Time: 19-December-2011 / 5:47 PM
Driver Release Location: MET CUSTOMER WOMAN
"Hello earthli-I MEAN customer wo-man.."
And I found myself very unconcerned when the Sucker Punch DVD simply stopped playing. I think I gave up on the movie long before the DVD player did.
The CGI and music were the only things I liked about that movie.
Guilty pleasure of mine. Very guilty pleasure.
CR: High Fidelity – Nick Hornsby
Reading non genre novels always reminds me that I like a bit of fantastic in the fiction I read.
Since I was never confident/likeable enough as a teenager/young adult to have a string of broken relationships, the beginning of this book (as the main protagonist describes his main heartbreaks in life) is so alien to my experience that it enters the realms of fantasy.
Well, I’ve always looked at it as all novels are fantasy. It’s just a matter of degree. 🙂
..and that’s enough bollox for a Tuesday morning.
I never mind the bullocks.
Punk comedy ftw, sir
I’ll see Jack Twisted Sister video and raise him this…other… Twister Sister video. Just in time for the holidays! (start at 40 seconds). I defy you to get thru the whole thing
What other video? I see no link
Cause Im retarded. You should know this by now.
Yes, but we love you anyway *hugs Lo Pan*
You win, I couldn’t make it through the whole thing.
But by winning I’ve just made us all lose.
I made it to 2:02
Having a nice holiday. Yesterday I made the family have lunch with my grandmother (usually it’s just me). Today hubby and I are going to Sentry box. He needs some things. I wonder if need is actually the right word.
If youll excuse me I’m off to run around in a very slow circle while the very slow rendition of the theme from 2001 plays in the background.
As long as it’s the 2001 theme featured in this Deadpan episode.
‘Zactly where I was goooooooooooooooiiiiiiiinnnnngggg
How did I never see this until now?
Or it’s sequal. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?desktop_uri=/watch?v=_JmA2ClUvUY&feature=youtu.be&feature=youtu.be&v=_JmA2ClUvUY&gl=CA

Stiff upper lip history lesson No.1:
Fascinating links today, Van!
And all I’ve supplied lately is Twisted Sister.
Just watched the Dexter season finale.
Hmmmm, this season was the first one to leave me feeling disappointed.
Rurouni Kenshin’s teaser is too short!!!!! 🙂
Back from shopping.
For my link of the day, I’ll include hubby’s favourite place http://www.pulpgamer.com/thebobandangusshow/
Their Christmas show (newest) was quite amusing.
Without even watching the trailer, I’m intrigued!
Van, I didn’t really like the Jimmy Smits season. The jury’s still out for me on the one after Lithgow.
See I enjoyed Season 3… but it came after a GREAT Season 2 so maybe thats why it felt disappointing. Season 5 left me absolutely the emptiest afterwards (haven’t seen this years finale yet).
That being said, without Lithgow, Season 4 would have been ho-hum as well. I begin to wonder how good a show Dexter truly is behind the great acting saving it. (please dont hurt me, Ess)
I had actually stopped in with a pretty cool link of my own:
Underworld would be good as an anime series.
Fresh bread is in the oven. Ribs will go in afterwards.
One of the best anime of the year, “Steins;Gate”, used John Titor as part of its back story.
Comprehensive Dr. Who timeline.
Speaking of Who, is it true that there’s a possibility of Amy and Rory leaving? I know every season someone is rumored to be leaving but still…
If that ends up being the case maybe I’ll actually go back to watching it. I mean as long as they fire the entire writing staff…
Yep, they are supposed to leave next season.
Hmmm… and how do you feel about this?
Haaaaaaaaaaaaappppy. Jush watz in dish piiiipe?
Get his wallet!!! I’ll get the bowl of warm water
Kind of a nice sentimental electronica song.
Perhaps, I should be embarrassed that I recognized almost all the anime used, but then we all have our hobbies. 🙂
My iMac is due at the genius bar to have its optical drive replaced tomorrow in the AM. No idea what the turn on something like that is, I’m assuming not a while-u-wait type of deal..
Is it just me, or would it be hilarious to keep calling the Mac Store employee “genius”?
“Hey, genius, did you fix my drive yet?”
“It’s broken, genius, I need it replaced.”
OK, I guess it’s just me.
I would call them all “Mac Daddy.”
(Criss Cross gonna make you jump jump)
Beeth, drink eggnog
I tell the beeth out
Gamespot’s games of the year (you don’t need to watch the videos, I didn’t for the most part.)
Hmmm… they seem to really like Skyrim.
I’d rather not get Skyrimmed, whatever that means…
Interesting, and telling, that Dragon Age 2 didn’t even make the nomination for RPG. While I loved the first one and enjoyed DA2, DA2 particularly is not in the same league as Skyrim.
No hurting. I’m feeling the same way about Dexter, though Jimmy Smits and E.J. Olmos make me swoon, both of em.
Oooooh, that “trailer” for the Hobbit I’ve seen from some of you on Facebook today has gotten me all tingly.
Me too, though I expect the people looking for more “Lord of the Rings” may be disappointed.
I actually clicked “Play” on the trailer, but have yet to actually watch. That’s my typical spoiler-avoidance practice for movies I want to see, but then I suppose I already know how this one turns out. . .
I heard the ship sinks at the end.
Heinleins predictions for 2000AD:
That’s the year not the comic.
Well, when he was right he was spot on. When he wasn’t … I guess we give him credit for “taking a big swing”.
Prediction is very difficult, especially about the future. -Niels Bohr
Heinlein actually updated and discussed that list in Expanded Universe, if anyone is curious.
which was published in 1980.
At least one reviewer is saying the new “Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” is better than the original.
But. . . um. . . that reviewer hated the original and he lists a Steven Seagal movie as one of his 3 favorites of all time.
I’m not saying he’s right. It’s up to you to determine if you agree with him. You know what they say about opinions….
And Charmin is super soft.
Just don’t leave any hanging out your pants. 😛
Don’t squeeze the opinions!
Safe to say:
Heinlein had a few funny ideas.
The guy certainly had Koresh-like charisma, though. I think if he’d gone the L. Ron Hubbard Dianetics route, we’d all be marching under giant Heinlein statues somewhere.
Has the march been called off?
Only thing worse is a Koresh-like Charisma Carpenter
Looks like North Korea is getting the Un Jong. He still makes me Il.

Oh dear, I may have a man crush on John Cusack..
There’s worse to have!
If you post a link to Zmed/John Cusack slash we may have to have you entombed in a large fruit cake.
He’s a viable alternative to Joan, if she shoots you down.
Is everybody gay? Is this a Twilight Zone?
Didn’t you get the memo?
I admire a man with a good grasp of obscure fim references.
You are now about to enter a dimension of sight and sound and showtunes and fashion and Jim J. Bullock.
..aaaaaand, somebody’s ranking (from worst to best) of every SNL cast member. Ever.
+ or – a few, I would mostly go along with it.
Yeh. I know.
I feel like what I assumeyou would feel like when I mention Nationwide.
OK…. My $0.02:
Kudos to the guy for compiling such an ambitious list, but his rankings are terrible. I suppose I’d be more OK with it if he’d declared in the opening paragraph that these were his personal choices, not his assessments of their importance.
I’d actually agree with a high ranking for Eddie Murphy, however. His skits are what made me an SNL watcher, back in 84-or-so.
I found myself being lukewarm to most of his choices. Eddie Murphy should be in the top 15, but I think Dan Ackroyd or Jim Bulushi for the number 1 spot. Victoria Jackson, despite being a certified nutjob, was funnier than the lowest 25 percent.
Agreed. I’m guessing that guy let his personal politics sway him against Victoria Jackson and Dennis Miller.
I’m really frustrated that I can’t find my copy of Love Actually and dammit. I’m going to buy it from amazon or something. Then I’m going to eat cookies and watch it over and over and over and over and over.
I’ll do it.
Play by Play?
Each time I watch it or just once?
AMG!!! So check this out… because I bought the movie on Amazon… the DVD will be here Friday.. I can’t watch it with the kids home BUT!!!! I have access to the Amazon video version immediately! I’m so stoked! I can watch it tonight!!!
Time for some pendulum action:
Catch the wave.
Watching a documentary about Steam trains post WW2 in the UK.
Seems the UK was the home of trainspotting (not the movie)…I’ll get my coat.
I’m a big fan of that subject Van (Steam trains, not trainspotting), as has come out in recent months.
Curious split between the romantic notion of steam engines held by the public and to the people who actually had to work and maintain steam trains…they were glad to switch over to diesel (much easier to maintain and far less dirty).
Just finished watching National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. I’m ready to open presents
Don’t forget Jack, I won’t be doing show note this week. I’m on vacation
Saw that Brandon Sanderson has finished writing the last Wheel of Time book with Robert Jordan’s final words for the end. Expect to see it next fall after it goes through editing and all the other stuff to get a book published.
Based on his work so far in getting the Wheel of Time finished since Robert Jordan’s passing, I have pretty high hopes that this one will be epic.
Well, time didn’t allow … but I was going to try and do a mash-up between “Santa Claus is coming to town” and “Don’t Fear The Reaper” by B.O.C. for this week’s deadpan.
Hey, in MY head at least – it really works nice.
It is the thought that counts, J0e.
I’m gonna do a little something for tonight’s ep…. but it’s not gonna be as ambitious as the past few years. Getting started now. Well, “Foolish Love” just shuffled on, so in about 6 minutes.
