Now that would be a good name for a chessey Dr Who story from the 70’s.
I have fond memories of the Jon Pertwee days.
Beck does a cover of ‘Sound and Vision’ in style:
Wide awake, people.
It’s 5 o’clock somewhere….here actually.
Good Slash’s Snakepit album
I’m hoping if I get to chance to chat to Jack before 288 the episode won’t be titled ‘The Last Van’..
The Last Englishman?
The Lasting Flavor?
I Know What You Did Last Summer?
I’m all hat and sweaty. I wish I could blame hubby
I need a shower
All hat, no cattle?
Naw, did a full workout for the first time in a week. I know I’m going to feel it.
I just watched two guys argue about who would win an epic one-on-one game, Jordan or James. I’d like to see that game.
Micheal Jordan and Jessie James?
Now THAT would be a short game.
Spud Webb had short game
I once stood next to Spud Webb and Minute Bull. That was memorable.
Dont you mean memeraBOLL> Hehehehehehehehe cough
Showered dressed and fed. Now to do some work
I have a question. Why does the JMDP podcast always stop halfway through the download and I have to restart it? It’s been happening for a few weeks now. It always seems to work fine the second time I tell I tunes to download it. It is also the only podcast this happens on. Whyfor?
This has been a complaint across multiple podcasts that are hosted through my site. Still haven’t found a resolution just yet, but I also am only aware of this complaint from iTunes users. Soooo I’m not sure yet if it’s an iTunes thing or a hosting thing. I guess I’m going to have to install that terrible bit of software to find out for myself.
If anyone else sees this happen, let me know and let me know what software you use to download your podcasts.
Meh. It’s not a huge deal. I know it happens so it’s easy enough for me to hit that download button again *shrug*
 :cheerful: 😆
I also use iTunes and have that problem. I too feel it isn’t a big deal.
My mmmmeetup runs May 2 – 6th (Thursday to Monday), despite what Jack says.
Although, if I want to get the good rate, it looks like my flight won’t arrive until around dinner time on Thursday.
Jack, you’re wrong. At least on the IPad, newer kindle formatting has the same page numbers as the book.
Oh, OK. Thanks for clarifying. Both Jack and I have Kindle Paperwhites, not iPads, so we didn’t know that.

Have I said lately how much I love my hubby? Looks like I’ll be looking at my normal lunch time flight when I’m ready to book.
I know there are some Card fans among us. I forgive you.
Here’s a petition about him writing Superman:
I believe he’s actually just going to write one Superman story, then the next 200 issues will be retelling that same story from other characters’ perspectives.
God bless you!
Amy/Jack – I enjoyed the episode today! Sweet conversation!
Lo Pan approved
Thank you very much, EssBee and Lo! 🙂
Log me down as another who enjoyed this “Amy-centric” Deadpan episode. 🙂
I think we should keep her.
Aww, thanks, Rhettro and J0e
Lunch time with my Boo!
I just booked my flight for the mmmmmmmeetup!
I can’t book mine until next week.
Me too, I also need to know a few other things.
Is there anything I can help you with, Van?
I still need to book my flight.
Is that by paper aeroplane?

It’s a well-written examination, as well as a clinic on how to overthink things.
Live life by the moment, rather than the event.
Does that work?
Yes. Right up until law enforcement finally catches up to you.
Seems those moments come with consequences. 🙁
Well, the Po-Po is not invited to my pasta dinner tonight
Day kant handle da Sawauce!
So, meetup weekend – when are people flying in this time? I’m pretty sure I’ll be catching a 6:40p flight out on Sunday.
Oh, and I still use Itunes to download podcasts as well. Haven’t had a problem with downloads dying in the middle.
Though, I am clinging to the past with Itunes 10, so perhaps that’s a good thing.
Conversation last night when I picked them up:
“Do you guys need Valentines for school on Thursday?”
Conversation tonight at 7:15pm: “We need Valentines for school tomorrow!”
I will be each of your valentines.
FYE: Tomahawk – South Paw
Infinity Blade goes free for the first time:
Ed, I’m coming in around 3 on Friday; leaving at 6:30 a.m. Monday.
I’m staying at my brother’s this time – eek! You guys will be meeting him, at least on Friday.
Hubby is out of town for a couple of days. 🙁
Time to throw my body under some running water
And then there’s this…
Really? No “he doesnt have a leg to stand on in this case” comments?
No sure how many will make the connection.
Because he’s South African! Like the bad guy in Lethal Weapon! Go me!
Also, more appropriately for the day:
“I will always cherish the original mis-conceptions I had about you.”
*sad, sardonic chuckle*
“I’m sorry for your loss”
Valentine’s Day is sooo 2012.
I’m celebrating on February 15th, instead. So, there will be no mushy, sappy gushing of my love & admiration for all you Pannites today.
Just for that, Van, youll be gettin MY sappy mushy gushing.
Fun Doodle today.
this is my mushy to you all.
cute. Bain never looked so adorable.
“NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The New Jersey Devils reacquired forward Alexei Ponikarovsky from the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday for two draft picks.”
Home again home again jiggidy jig.
LOL. Someone at Evil sent out an email blast to a billion customers. The FROM address seems to be the mass-distribution list email for the entire company. In the last 10 minutes, everyone has received approximately 200-300 out-of-office replies.
Now, some mind-trustees are sending company-wide emails that say “I’m getting replies to an email I did not send!” “Me too!” “Me three!” “Me four!” and so on.
Oh, the humanity.
I’ve had that happen where the countless replies are variations of “take me off this distribution list” followed by “stop hitting reply all” etc. etc. Have fun cleaning your in box after that.
heh heh… I said “cleaning your in box”… heh heh
hey, HEY! … she’s engaged now! There will be none of that.
Can’t come soon enough:
Interesting, but the article doesn’t really touch on the “recharging in 10 minutes” part. Could be a big boon to e-cars.
Charges in 10 minutes, turns into a “Super Happy Fun Ball of Flames” in just 5.
I see it as home defense.
Now to email an awkward question, well for me anyway, I always wonder if I’m imposing.
No you cannot borrow my ball gown.
We can camp out in my t-shirt though…
Are you going to – – no, no, I won’t finish that joke.
Like, what colour is the thong you’re wearing?
Does it have the word “tent” in it?
I’m sure the words Pole and erection are the words on the tip of the tongues of happy campers out there.
hehe … “tip”
Tegan and Sara valentines!
Nothing says sticky ‘n sweet quite like a BJ Piezookie
I did it all for the BJ Pienookie. So you can take that cookie…
(Forgive me for quoting the worst band of all time)
I think my mind went the same place as EssBee’s. I saw BJ, pie,, & nookie and it was all over for me.
Try thinking of hockey stats … sometimes that helps delay things.
I sense a Group BJ Piezookie is necessary in May.
Is it wrong that I miss hubby already? I know, normally he wouldn’t even be home from work for another hour and a half but still…

Hubby texted. He’s at the airport waiting to board the plane
Now the challenge. Can I stay awake until hubby calls once he gets to his hotl?

On the up side, I’m getting a lot of reading done waiting for hubby’s call

As in… The character Richard Castle from the TV show?
Yes. They’ve come out with a book every year. They read a lot like the series. They’re fun

I may have lost the plot here.

Coats won’t protect you.
In Russia, meteor rites YOU!
Does everyone in Russia have a camera in their car?
WOW! This one is the most amazing one because it catches the sounds of the thing exploding … but the sound doesn’t arrive until long after the incident appears to be over.
Wait on it … and do NOT turn your speaker volume up.
Since the original is in moderation … I repost here –
Or this security video of windows and doors blowing in.
Or another video that has the sound and from this persons location … multiple explosions can clearly be heard.

Well look at that, it’s morning already
Morning pan. Miss me? It’s been a busy week and I haven’t really looked at the previous posts. Did I miss anything?
YOU . MISSED . EVERYTHING!
*On the plus side, we wrote it all down for you 😉
You even missed THOSE!
I didn’t “miss” them. 😉
CP: Killing In The Name — Rage Against The Machine
Almost the weekend and a distinct lack of desire to see any movies on release this week.
Tsk, tsk, I will have idle hands
It’s a long weekend here (Monday’s the holiday). We are trying to decide weather or not to see Hansel and Gretel
Monday is a holiday here too, but only for banks and schools.
Time to play the Vita then. lol
Play the Vida? That’s loca.
I wanted to see that.
KaBOOOOOOM! Must have been pretty frightening.
You really did ‘miss’ some of jOE’s comments. lol
P.S. Pretty wild, I should ask Geoff Notkin what he thinks of it.
“Miss” would imply they were good jokes. 😉

I downloaded “Torchlight 2” off of Steam last night for $10. A more cartoony version of Diablo. It’s fun but I’m not sure if I’ll get used to having pistols in a fantasy setting. Does that make it Steampunk?
I enjoyed the first one, but I haven’t tried this one yet.
I played the second one. It was fun.
For 10 bucks I couldn’t say no.
Wow, what’ll you do for $20?
What won’t I do?
Okay, you got me there.
Ah Person of Interest episode lights up when Amy Acker comes on screen.
Most things light up when Amy Acker comes on screen
She does Evil well.
I’m going to the symphony tonight with a girlfriend
If hubby was home, he’d be able to go. That’s what he gets for not being here
I’m finding lately that Scotch Ales and Barleywines are where my beer drinking tastes have wandered. What is everyone else drinking lately?
German Lagers. Dunno why, just in the mood for light crisp delicious lately.
Boulevard’s seasonal Irish Ale is out; one of my favorites. It’s a hoppier Red, if you haven’t had it before. And I’ve been enjoying some Rye beers lately.
I do appreciate me a good Barleywine. I don’t drink quite often enough to have patterns, but I am reliably drawn to Hefes and Weissbiers. I’ve also discovered some tasty stouts in the past year.
I can’t say no to a good imperial stout. 🙂
Someone NEEDS to actually make that beer.
As well as the Hazelnut flavoured Bailey’s mentioned earlier, I discovered a Malibu clone I was given as a gift goes nice with cheap pineapple juice.
On first read, I thought you were combining all of that in one glass. :barf:
I now recognize (hope?) that the Hazelnut Bailey’s and the Malbui with pineapple are 2 separate drinks.
Yup, Bailey’s and acidic drinks like fruit juice don’t mix well together.
My tastes are changing a bit. I used to be a extra bitter fan. Now I’m leaning more toward unfiltered wheats and ambers.
Really, though, I fear no beer.
I do fear some beers. Never found much need for IPAs. Haven’t yet found a rye beer that I like. Other than that, they’re all great.
I’m an IPA girl, for sure. I’ll take yours! You can have my barleywine!
You got yourself a deal.
Me too. Same goes with the Ryes. 🙂

An hour of this? Really?
You are feeling sleepy..
The bottom of my driveway is one giant puddle. My house is on a slight hill. We’ve had an unusually warm February so everything has melted and pooled at the bottom of my driveway. It better not freeze soon or hubby and I will be out with the ice chipper.
It’s only three weeks late but everybody finally got their schedules in sync and I was finally able to make dinner reservations for my Boo’s birthday. Like we do every year, we’re going here http://www.smugglers.ca/. My Boo is very much a carnivore.
Jemele Hill is one of my favorite sports writers. She has a new podcast with Michael Smith. I’m listening to the first episode and really liking it:
CD: Boulevard’s Grainstorm (Black Rye IPA)
Super Vanamonde Galaxy?
Oo, do they have Castlevanamondia? Rhettroid? The Legend of Zessbee?
So random, and sad news all around
I’m bound to make my 40’s the healthiest decade!
Watch me become badass, Deadpan.
So in the meantime, we can live like slovenly pigs?
Not at all… It’s going totake me the full 20 months to get myself a healthy badass.
You, on the other hand, dont have 20 months– but you are already healthier in many ways!!!
Go Jack Go.
Can you come badass doing yoga?
For the engineers out there:
I managed to make it to nearly the end of the 2nd paragraph before I glazed over and collapsed to the floor.
Hubby’s home! Yah!

It appears People from Nordic countries are the new bad guys in Films and TV..when did that happen?
Saw this tonight at the arty cinema:
A classic example of a film that is like the proverbially curate’s egg.
I was only able to afford a rental car for one day when I’ll be in Phoenix. Plan to stop here to find craft beers when I can drive there unless someone knows of a better place:
Ok I’m showing my naivete here, but what on earth does the women have in her belly button?
You can just ignore the stuff about sex toys if you wish.
By the little mark just above her belly button, I’m assuming she has a pierced belly button. Instead of a ring, she has a jewel or gold piece of some sort held by the post (the post would be the little thing above her belly button)
Seriously? That better be a shudder for joy.
Not a great fan of piecing anywhere.
Oh and in that I mean on myself, what people want to do to themselves is their business.
I don’t quite get it, but it sounds cool.
No dumber than dubstep
It’s all just noise! (literally)
Whats that? The thing, on your lip?
Hanging off your lip
Yeah, thats more like it ‘Yotes.
Broken Heart Syndrome.
It does exist. Breaks *my* heart.
It appears the tumbleweeds are out in force today.
We dont need no stinkin’ tumbleweeds.
Nope we want fragrant tumbleweeds. Actually I was spending some time completing my Ear Buddy obligations. I just sent them to Jack. 🙂
I think we had some server funny business today.
Well I’m all sorted, God is laughing at my future plans, and I’m watching the first episode of ‘Hit and Miss’..
Well, if anyone cares about the weather in Texas, I’ve finally got my weather station reporting online:
Yea for weather geekery!!!
Did you really have a 25mph wind gust? That’s pretty hefty.
Vantage Vue? I’ll have to look that up.
I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my Davis Instruments weather station for the last decade or so.
Curious to know what your setup is Ed and to jj why the love/hate with his setup.
My original station was a “wired” station and was very susceptible to electrical storms. After the first time I had to have it repaired, I bought every piece of surge suppression gear they sold ($$$) and bought big copper rods to drive into the ground to “ground” the whole thing. Big investment that all blew up with-in a year after a nearby lightning strike.
This time, rather then repair the console, I let Davis upsale me into their “wireless” system (more$$$).
After a year or so, I began to have sensor information dropping out. Sent in for more repairs. Problem persisted. Was finally told that excessive humidity was causing the transmitter to intermittently fail and that I should now upgrade to their newest model.
Just to be clear I ask – “So you are telling me that a piece of equipment that you sell for the expressed purpose of installing OUTSIDE to monitor weather conditions … is failing because it is being subjected to outside weather conditions and this ISN’T considered a manufacturer defect?”
They told me that was correct.
Somehow it seemed wrong to by more equipment from them so I have been using the same equipment and gritting my teeth when it occasionally stops sending data.
For the 90% of the time it is functioning, I LOVE IT!
That other 10% though … I want to hear the lamentations of their women.
A 10% chance of Schwarzenegger?
100% of a lamenting Maria Shriver.
Another very sad and tragic example of our failed Mental Health understading
We have quite an interesting Mental Health capability in this country. The lower class have tons of access to astoundingly crappy quality mental health care that they would likely be better off without. The middle class have health insurance that almost never covers mental health care, so can’t be bothered paying for it. The upper class spend all their money on useless new-age garbage.
She was also an addict.
Sadly that’d more apt in this case.
Dudes, I should have left like 20 minutes ago to go to my girlfriend’s place, but I’m still here, posting on the Deadpan page.
Shh, don’t tell her, OK?
OK, I’m off.
At least the tumbleweeds smell fresh this morning.
I love the smell of tumbleweeds in the morning.
Van and TEB must be observing “Presidents’ Day”.
TEB is observing “Family Day” We saw Hansel & Gretel. It was a movie.
I’m observing the presidents today. Or, going to lunch with my girl.
See above comment, 2/17/13 @ 8:55pm
Awwww I JUST read this about 5 minutes before you posted it…
I’ve rarely been late since I bought a Casio G-Shock watch with Waveceptor function.
I haven’t worn a watch since the 90s.
No, I was always late then too.
I’m usually early. I’d rather be 45 minutes early for something than being 5 minutes late. It kind of drives hubby nuts when I’m looking at my watch and hour before we have to be somewhere that’s only 5 minutes away.
Somehow an 11:39am flight got set in my mind as a 1:39pm flight and I nearly missed my plane from Orlando to Houston. My luggage may not be so lucky. Good thing I’m working at the airport all week so I’ll be able to pick it up whenever it decides to arrive.
Should be landing in Phoenix at 4:58 Phoenix local time.
I look forward to the photographic evidence.

Got dragged to going to see ‘Warm Bodies’ by my sisters, was a pleasant surprise.
Alright, Deadpan. You have your uniform for the next MMMMMeetup
Strangely enough, I just finished watching Superman II with the kids this afternoon. Mr. Stamp has actually aged pretty gracefully.
I was half expecting some Zardoz apparel. *gulp*
As for the weather – it is a Davis Vantage VUE. We’ll see how it holds up, but it’s been going well enough for the month I’ve had it in operation. It is solar powered, so no wiring involved at the instrument. Wireless radio to the console inside, which I have feeding to a computer.
Next step will be to setup a weather camera to go with it. I’ve got a decent view from my balcony of the bayou that runs behind our house.
If it makes it through a season without any hick-ups … I’ll probably be suckered into buying this new one too.
DAMN YOU DAVIS INSTRUMENTS!!
Luggage made it no problems. I’m sure that everyone I’ll be working with will be grateful I have my toothpaste.
Holy shit theyre opening an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Denver….
What is in the basement of that place?
