  1. I have a question. Why does the JMDP podcast always stop halfway through the download and I have to restart it? It’s been happening for a few weeks now. It always seems to work fine the second time I tell I tunes to download it. It is also the only podcast this happens on. Whyfor?

    • This has been a complaint across multiple podcasts that are hosted through my site. Still haven’t found a resolution just yet, but I also am only aware of this complaint from iTunes users. Soooo I’m not sure yet if it’s an iTunes thing or a hosting thing. I guess I’m going to have to install that terrible bit of software to find out for myself.

If anyone else sees this happen, let me know and let me know what software you use to download your podcasts.

  3. Oh, and I still use Itunes to download podcasts as well. Haven’t had a problem with downloads dying in the middle.

Though, I am clinging to the past with Itunes 10, so perhaps that’s a good thing.

  4. Conversation last night when I picked them up:
“Do you guys need Valentines for school on Thursday?”
    “No.”

Conversation tonight at 7:15pm: “We need Valentines for school tomorrow!”
    “Gah!”

  5. Ed, I’m coming in around 3 on Friday; leaving at 6:30 a.m. Monday.

I’m staying at my brother’s this time – eek! You guys will be meeting him, at least on Friday.

  6. Valentine’s Day is sooo 2012.

I’m celebrating on February 15th, instead. So, there will be no mushy, sappy gushing of my love & admiration for all you Pannites today.

  7. “NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The New Jersey Devils reacquired forward Alexei Ponikarovsky from the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday for two draft picks.”

Home again home again jiggidy jig.

  8. LOL. Someone at Evil sent out an email blast to a billion customers. The FROM address seems to be the mass-distribution list email for the entire company. In the last 10 minutes, everyone has received approximately 200-300 out-of-office replies.

Now, some mind-trustees are sending company-wide emails that say “I’m getting replies to an email I did not send!” “Me too!” “Me three!” “Me four!” and so on.

    Oh, the humanity.

  9. I downloaded “Torchlight 2” off of Steam last night for $10. A more cartoony version of Diablo. It’s fun but I’m not sure if I’ll get used to having pistols in a fantasy setting. Does that make it Steampunk?

  10. I’m finding lately that Scotch Ales and Barleywines are where my beer drinking tastes have wandered. What is everyone else drinking lately?

  11. The bottom of my driveway is one giant puddle. My house is on a slight hill. We’ve had an unusually warm February so everything has melted and pooled at the bottom of my driveway. It better not freeze soon or hubby and I will be out with the ice chipper.

    • Yea for weather geekery!!!

Did you really have a 25mph wind gust? That’s pretty hefty.

Vantage Vue? I’ll have to look that up.
I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my Davis Instruments weather station for the last decade or so.

      • My original station was a “wired” station and was very susceptible to electrical storms. After the first time I had to have it repaired, I bought every piece of surge suppression gear they sold ($$$) and bought big copper rods to drive into the ground to “ground” the whole thing. Big investment that all blew up with-in a year after a nearby lightning strike.

This time, rather then repair the console, I let Davis upsale me into their “wireless” system (more$$$).

After a year or so, I began to have sensor information dropping out. Sent in for more repairs. Problem persisted. Was finally told that excessive humidity was causing the transmitter to intermittently fail and that I should now upgrade to their newest model.
Just to be clear I ask – “So you are telling me that a piece of equipment that you sell for the expressed purpose of installing OUTSIDE to monitor weather conditions … is failing because it is being subjected to outside weather conditions and this ISN’T considered a manufacturer defect?”
They told me that was correct.

Somehow it seemed wrong to by more equipment from them so I have been using the same equipment and gritting my teeth when it occasionally stops sending data.

For the 90% of the time it is functioning, I LOVE IT!
That other 10% though … I want to hear the lamentations of their women.

    • We have quite an interesting Mental Health capability in this country. The lower class have tons of access to astoundingly crappy quality mental health care that they would likely be better off without. The middle class have health insurance that almost never covers mental health care, so can’t be bothered paying for it. The upper class spend all their money on useless new-age garbage.

  12. Somehow an 11:39am flight got set in my mind as a 1:39pm flight and I nearly missed my plane from Orlando to Houston. My luggage may not be so lucky. Good thing I’m working at the airport all week so I’ll be able to pick it up whenever it decides to arrive.

Should be landing in Phoenix at 4:58 Phoenix local time.

  13. As for the weather – it is a Davis Vantage VUE. We’ll see how it holds up, but it’s been going well enough for the month I’ve had it in operation. It is solar powered, so no wiring involved at the instrument. Wireless radio to the console inside, which I have feeding to a computer.

Next step will be to setup a weather camera to go with it. I’ve got a decent view from my balcony of the bayou that runs behind our house.
