  54. I have next week off. Hubby and I were going to tear down our garden shed and put up a new one. The contractors are still here.
    I’m actually upset over this. They started two weeks late and it looks like they’ll be at least a week over time. Hubby and I had all sorts of plans for next week that may have to be cancelled because we don’t like to leave the house alone with just the contractor. Call us paranoid

    • Judging from some of the stories I’ve heard from friends who’ve had work done, I don’t think you are being paranoid..

      • If they are not done by Wednesday, (which at the rate they are going they won’t be) they’ll just have to have that day off. Hubby and I have some appointments we just can’t cancel.

    When I got here in the middle of the night it was uncomfortably hot.

  70. Now I’m upset. Assassin’s Creed 3 has this beautiful limited edition with a statue, flag and other cool stuff… for XBox and Playstation only. If you own a PC, all your collector’s edition loot is in the form of DLC only. I want the statue!!!

  71. So… who here plans to play Assassin’s Creed 3 on either xbox or PS3? If you pre-order the Special edition, you get all the cool stuff. I might be willing to make a deal for everything that isn’t the game itself (and console DLC that might come with the game). Any possible takers?

  73. Upgraded to the latest version of Ubuntu on an old laptop my sister uses.

    System became unstable and refused to boot, would only work in recovery mode. Tried various ‘flavours’ of Ubuntu and all crapped out.

    Since older versions of Ubuntu detect wouldn’t some of the laptops hardware, decide to try Fedora instead.

    Works a treat.

    My status as the family’s go to computer guy is restored..

  87. My son found out he is getting assigned to Fort Carson in Colorado when he gets done in South Korea in December. Looks like I will have a good reason to visit Colorado soon. Woo-hoo!

    I found out that Ft. Carson is 40 miles north of Pueblo and tried joking with my son about writing for further information to Pueblo, Colorado. Then needed to spend 10 minutes explaining public service announcements and how, when we had to fight off dinosaurs before the internet took care of them, we had to send away for information through the “mail”. It’s not often I feel old, but this certainly did it.

  94. Finally got round to watching the season finale of Legend of Korra.

    A good finale spoilt by the cheap way she got her powers back.

    • I still really like Legend of Korra for the same reason I liked the original Avatar series. I get sick and tired of children’s shows where there are stereotypical bad guys and good guys with character growth only allowed for the good guys. The Avatar series keep all the characters as shades of grey. Kind of like Kiddie Watchmen.

      The only problem I had with Korra was that they felt the need to tell a complete story in one season so things seemed a bit rushed compared to the original series.

    • I too still enjoyed it. It was a bit rushed with the “healing”, but I think it also keeps them from falling into the trap of spending the next several seasons of her relearning her powers. That would just be a redo of Ang’s path.

      It will be most interesting to see what next season brings.

  99. Hey Pan

    Hubby and I just tore down half our garden shed. It’s now pushing 30C here (86F and not even noon) so we thought we’d quit for the day before we gave ourselves sunstroke. Will tear the rest of it down tomorrow morning.
